*Finally* dropped to under 170, after being stuck just above it for 2 1/2 weeks. :P  This morning I was 168.8.

...just 28.8 lbs left until my goal weight? Holy cats, that's closer than I thought!

(I know, that doesn't sound close, but I started at 225, with 85 lbs to lose.)

Jan 30 2019: 153.0 lbs

Steady progress! I was actually down quite a bit (148.8 lbs!) as of Sunday morning, but then went to a Super Bowl party...

I'm in. 6' 2" Male mid 30s. I weighed around 265 lbs in April - May 2018 but then got more serious in the fall. Met my previous goal of 220 in the last couple weeks. New Goal: 200 lbs by end of June.

I've been elliptically almost every day now for 45-60 mins and restricting calories too. 16/8 seems to be my natural eating schedule too so that helps. Overall, I feel so much better and have lots more energy. I'm afraid I may be OCDing a bit since I have been doing multiple daily weighings and have been wanting to try not eating for a day or two but stay hydrated to make the weight come off faster. Very happy to be in the "Overweight" category instead of Obese.

9/2018 - 240
Jan 31 - 220: Finally lost the other 20 pounds I set in September.
Feb 6 - 219

Too many days of Chinese New Year feasting. I had a really hard time turning the switch off today and ate a lot more of this and that than I had planned out last night. Super reluctant to log it. Might call it a wash and get back on the wagon tomorrow. Really need to remind myself that I do not need to eat ALL the leftovers at once.

One problem is I get less filled up on the feast food in the fridge than I do on my normal low cal meals. And I really, really want to enjoy the leftovers.

I did manage to stop eating after 8pm. Although I have been staring at delicious cookies all night. And several times have thought about just eating one or two. I already blew it today, so why not just keep on going? But that's what always ends up spiralling me into another binge. So...NO! Tomorrow is another day.

An interesting side note - it occurred to me if I keep going like I did today, I'll definitely be out the $600 I put into HealthyWager. There is NO WAY that is happening. So NO MORE EATING (for today anyway ROFL!!). And I'm going to behave and go log the damage as best as I can. *sigh*

12-14-18 - Beginning Weight:  188.1
01-03-19 - 185.2
01-10-19 - 183.6
01-17-19 - 184.4
01-18-19 - 182.9
01-24-19 - 183.5
01-31-19 - 183.4
02-07-19 - 182.9

Less focus on the scale number and more focus on the actual food that is traveling over the lips.  I'm also going back to paying more attention to how my clothes fit.  Finally, I'm only weighing myself once a month or every 6 weeks or so.  I've learned I'm too competitive with myself to weigh myself every week.  My negative self-talk and sabotage kick in when the scale number goes up.

@elaine amj, I struggle with that, too! Once I get in a permissive break mode, it's hard to jump back on the wagon.

I was just about to reach for a couple of teeny tiny chocolate biscuits. But I think you talked me out of it.

Friday check-in

Jan 1: 154.2 lbs
Jan 4: 150.2 lbs (lost that water weight!)
Jan 11: 149.8 lbs
Jan 18: 147.4 lbs
Jan 25: 147.8 lbs
Feb 2: 146.8 lbs
Feb 8: 144.6 lbs

Total weight lost: 9.6 lbs
Goal weight: 129 lbs
*Have to reach goal weight by July 7 2019 to get $1080 in prize money from HealthyWager OR I lose $600*
Currently 38.36% towards my goal with 17.7% time elapsed

After THREE long weeks of the scale not budging, this morning I FINALLY got the whoosh I have been waiting for! I had no issues waiting 2 weeks...but waiting three weeks was a bit challenging lol. Hard to keep trusting in the plan when nothing was happening on the scale! So I am right on schedule. Discounting the initial water weight loss the first week, I have lost 5.6 lbs in the past 5 weeks - just about exactly what my logs in MyFitnessPal says I should lose.

Also updated my measurements from a month ago and the results are:
3 inches lost in the bust
2 inches lost in the waist
1.5 inches lost in the hips

I also started measuring my butt today and I think I will also start measuring my upper arms (hoping all the swimming will start toning up my perpetually fleshy arms)

LOL, glad I could help.

I'm down from about 125 at New Years to 121.2 this AM. Even though it was my birthday last weekend and there may have been excessive dessert-ing--I did an OK job of dropping calories elsewhere/being efficient with meals to compensate.

Feb 2: 195
Feb 9: 192.6

Big drop this week. Probably won't be such a big drop next week because I'm going to friends this weekend and will probably not eat my normal boring food.

Weekly Check-In

Stats:  6'2, M, 34
Starting Weight (1.14.19):  209.5
Goal Weight (targeting 4.21.19):  185

1.18.19 -- 209        (weekly avg. 209.2)
1.26.19 -- 206.5     (avg. 208)
2.1.19 --   204.5     (avg. 206.4)
2.9.29 --   203.5     (avg. 205.8)

This was a hard-fought pound this week.  Last week I went away for a three day trip to a chocolate-themed resort, which ended with the Superbowl.  I thought I was doing pretty good at balancing treats and wise choices but at the end of the trip I was 5.5 pounds heavier.  I think a lot of salt weight because then when I went back to more strict dieting I lost five pounds in a day!  Then I kept up a strict diet (1,000 calorie or more deficit) for five days and the scale actually rose over the workweek until I saw a two pound drop this morning.  Usually I don't worry too much about daily fluctuations in the scale but this whole process was just weird.

Last week I started introducing a formal strength training + refeed day into my routine.  I was sore for a few days afterwards.  I downloaded an app called Strong to log my workout.  I'm interested to track my strength too -- I know there's a risk of losing muscle during a diet and want to limit that, plus have a productive way to try to "reset" my metabolism each week.

Per fitbit, I should have been on track for losing 2.5 pounds this week but I only lost one.  I think that some of this may be tracking error (food at resort even unhealthier than I thought, fitbit overestimating calorie burn) and that some of it may have been my body resisting weight loss even though I was logging deficits, followed by a bit of a woosh this morning.  But I want to watch this.

One of my big accomplishments this week was walking to and from work all five days.  Next week I'd like to integrate another gym day, and make sure to eat back the calories too so I'm not being quite so strict on food intake and can keep this sustainable.

Now off to go stop my two year old son from eating cat food...

So far, I am down 10 lbs since starting the challenge. My BMI is now 23.5. This week, I lost 1 lb, because I was only able to fit in four workout sessions due to craziness with work. I also think my calorie counting has been off a bit. Next week should be a little better.

1-7-2019: 180.2 lbs

My goal for the end of the year is somewhere between maintaining my weight and losing 20-25(ish) lbs.  Google tells me the top end of a healthy weight for my height is 140 lbs, even when I was in the best shape of my life (played very competitive soccer and volleyball in high school, with weight lifting) I was pretty steadily in the 145 range.

Weekly log in
01/09/19: 161.6 lbs
01/17/19: 160.8 lbs
01/28/19: 160.4 lbs

02/01/19: 160.0 lbs
02/11/19: 159.6 lbs

I am very excited to continue to watch these numbers decrease, although I am getting a little antsy because it appears that I will need to buy more dress pants soon.  I HATE shopping but I really need to look professional at work so super baggy pants are not good and apparently I waited too long last time because I started getting several comments (only from people that are close enough to me to make comments and them not be inappropriate) about my pants being too big.  I did not buy new shirts last time and I am hoping to not need to buy shirts again, hopefully just pants.

I don't normally get on the scale twice within a few days of each other but I expected a bigger drop since the beginning of Feb so I checked again first thing this morning.  This is more what I thought it should be!

I know better fitting clothes will make me feel better, I just hate shopping.

Joining in this thread for more accountability :)
Started at about 141 in mid January, first goal to hit 130 by June, longer term goal to be around 120-125.
Will be using MFP, i hate food tracking but it keeps me on track.
Current weight 138.

1/11/18 - 96kg
1/12/18 - 94kg
1/1/19 - 92kg
1/2/19 -90.1kg

And I'm not going so well again. Sitting between 91 and 92kg. Looks like I'll be lucky just to weigh in under 90kg, let alone 88kg. And February is a short month.

I know what I'm doing wrong:
 - drinking a couple of glasses of wine with dinner
 - succumbing to carb creep...I really have to keep very low to lose weight, and once I breach that level it seems like    there's 10g here and 10 g there and before I know it I'm not losing
 - snacking after dinner.

Could someone please administer a face punch and tell me to get on with it? I really want to at least finish Feb comfortably below 90kg even if I don't make 88kg.

New low today @229.4, finding a nice groove so hoping I can stick with about 1.5-2lbs/week for a while. Weighing in daily makes it tough since short term gains or losses mess with the brain.

Friday check-in

Jan 1: 154.2 lbs
Jan 4: 150.2 lbs (lost that water weight!)
Jan 11: 149.8 lbs
Jan 18: 147.4 lbs
Jan 25: 147.8 lbs
Feb 2: 146.8 lbs
Feb 8: 144.6 lbs
Feb 15: 143.6 lbs

Stats: Female 39, 5ft
Total weight lost: 10.6 lbs
Goal weight: 129 lbs
*Have to reach goal weight by July 7 2019 to get $1080 in prize money from HealthyWager OR I lose $600*
Currently 42.33% towards my goal with 21.5% time elapsed

I've been working REALLY hard this week because I am going to Toronto this weekend and facing a lot of food and social meals. I want to be able to relax and enjoy myself there so been banking a lot of calories this week and putting in extra workouts. I was a wee bit grumpy today because my mother insisted on leaving the pool early today so she could bake pineapple tarts (even though I did point out I needed to workout extra to eat her super yummy treats!). To make up for that, I swam at a higher intensity and tonight, my whole body is sore.

Also, the psychological factor of logging my food on MyFitnessPal has been very interesting. I often try and undereat my daily allowed calories a little bit to "save up" a few hundred extra calories for the weekend (I count my net calories on a weekly basis). I can't seem to save all that much though. This week, I tried something different. I logged all my exercise calories as "1" instead of my usual 400-500 calories. Amazingly enough, I mostly stayed within my 1200 calories each day and didn't eat my exercise calories like I normally do! So now I should have lots to spare for the weekend's meals :) :) Later, I'll go back and adjust my exercise calories properly before checking on my total week's net calories.

Mid January: ~198
Feb 2: 195
Feb 9: 192.6
Feb 16: 190.6

Feeling super weak in the gym right now. That's the way it goes when cutting at a pretty quick rate. Trying to get over it... main goal is leaning out right now, so I need to stay focused on that. Typically this is where it gets hard because I have a fear of losing a bunch of muscle. But my training good, eating plenty of protein, so I know logically I'm not losing muscle. It's just a matter of lack of energy at this time and strength should come back once I'm at maintenance calories. Still, it's not easy when weights you could do for 5+ reps are starting to feel heavy haha.

Great progress -- hope you have a wonderful weekend in Toronto.

Weekly Check-In
Stats:  6'2, M, 34
Starting Weight (1.14.19):  207.5
Goal Weight (targeting 4.21.19):  185

1.18.19 -- 207
1.26.19 -- 204.5
2.1.19 --   202.5
2.9.19 --   201.5
2.16.19 -- 202.5

Progress seems to be stalling on the scale but I think I'm still improving.  The last two weeks were record lows when I weighed in, and this week I happened to be a pound higher today than yesterday (had some salty food).  That's how the cookie crumbles sometimes.

I got a new scale because I wanted to check bodyfat measurements and it was 3.5 pounds different.  I did a test and it looks like BOTH scales are wrong, one over and one under.  So I made a guess based on how off each scale was and backdated my entries with the old scale accordingly.  But I can't work with averages now because it's all in flux.  And I may need to return the new scale or see if it can be recalibrated somehow.  In any case, I can take solace in the fact that I do weigh a little less than I thought, even if it's only due to a one-time accounting gimmick.  :)

I am still walking to work but I haven't yet been able to start an exercise routine on weekday mornings.  I was under the weather this week with a cold and absolutely slammed with work.  I'd rather rest when sick so I am OK not pushing it this week.

I could see wanting more flexibility in my diet in the future but I do have to say that I really enjoy eating a lot of healthy food and home-cooked meals so I definitely think I'll be making some permanent changes in my diet after this.

I purposefully ate a bit more this week because I was logging really high calorie deficits last week, beyond what most dieticians would say is necessary (e.g., more than 1000 calories a day).  So this week it about 1,000 calories a day per Fitbit.  So I would expect more progress than the scale shows.  Fitbit may be overestimating my calorie burn, and also I also have a thyroid condition (diagnosed -- 15 years now -- and medicated) and haven't done a blood test in a year or two, so I should get that done just as a general health thing anyways.

For the next week, I'm just going to keep on with a 1,000 calorie a day deficit, healthy food, vegetables, lots of protein, and work to bump my strength training from once a week to 2-3 times.  Progress is not always linear and I'm not deterred.

Also, high cortisol levels = water retention.  Sick plus spending 50 hours this week frantically skimming complex legal documents for about a dozen different large transactions = cortisol.

Per Fitbit, my resting heartrate is the highest it's been in two months, so definitely a possibility right now.

Woke up this morning at 179.0!! First time being under 180 in 7-8 years. I’ve been maintaining 180’s for over a year and wanted to hover around 180-182, this is my first time getting below. I ran my longest outdoor run last night (7 miles). I started running late last June.

Overall I feel really good. I’m probably in the 8% BF range at 5’9. I wouldn’t mind seeing what 175 looks like but I also am not going to be miserable to do it.

Very content with what my diet takes to maintain. Would love some more ice cream and a bit more carbs but it’s ok. Post big runs I’ve started drinking smoothies with 2 cups milk, 2 scoops protein, 2 scoops glutamine, and a banana. It’s so delicious compared to my standard water+whey that it almost takes the edge off the strong ice cream desire. We’ve found some 60? Calorie fudge pops we have for occasional snacks as well that help take the edge off.

If it is not too late, I would like to join. I am a distance runner who is injured...
I do not know what my low weight was when I ran my full and half marathons in May and October but I do know that I don’t fit into my clothes like I used to.
3 weeks ago on 1/27 I started doing the LIIFT 4 program and took the following measurements:
36” chest
11.25” right arm
11.25” left arm
36” waist
41” hips
23.5” right thigh
24” left thigh

151.7 lbs

I would like to get down to 135, but would be happy to trim up and fit into my favorite pants again.

I was running 40 miles per week and when I had to drop down to 15 miles per week I apparently didn’t change my eating habits...

So really my discipline needs to be with eating. I meal plan, but I still need to make smarter decisions.

I have finished all 3 weeks of the program in terms of following the workouts, but I faltered on the eating side...and need to stay on track. I will have to retake these measurements again at the end of next week...and need motivation to stay in line with my eating.

I also need to find time to add in some additional cardio, I have not been running since I started PT 5 weeks ago because of significant discomfort and extreme weather in my region.

Welcome to the forum!

Does your injury prevent you from lower impact forms of cardio like spin or elliptical? While maybe not as enjoyable, I find them as good in building/maintaining the cardio/endurance portion of running while your bones/joints impacted by running can get a break. Personally, I find the cardio portion of running to be my biggest challenge (newer runner here).

Diet-wise - I find reducing heavy calorie carbs with veggies to be a huge help. Veggies have so few calories compared to their “size” it feels like you’re eating more than you really are.

Just some thoughts.

Info:  5'6", M, 29

Goal Weight: 150 lbs

1-1-2019: 183.4 lbs
1-7-2019: 180.2 lbs
1-14-2019: 175.6 lbs
1/21/2019: 174.0 lbs
1/28/2019: 173.6 lbs
2/4/2019: 173.2 lbs
2/11/2019: 171.8 lbs

2/18/2019: 172.6 lb

First time with an increase to my weight  since I started in January. Not really very happy about it but I noticed some of my old habits crept back in this last week. Late night snacking being what I assume the main culprit. Need to cut those out  and get back on track as I have another diet bet weigh in coming up here at the beginning of next month. Really am wanting the nice weather to get back. I am needing some good outside workouts back in my life.

In the past (when I could eat dairy) I found that a good full-fat plain Greek yogurt with frozen raspberries and a drizzle of honey was a very yummy substitute for ice cream.

Thank you for the thoughts. My injury is currently still being defined and I am allowed to do anything that doesn’t “hurt”...however... I don’t feel pain during exercise, I pay for it later when I am sitting or laying down in bed...this has gotten worse since starting PT which is why my cardio activity has slowed. I did do spin last week and was in a lot of pain the next day.

I do need to eat more veggies for sure...I am making sure I get them at each meal, and cutting carbs unless I have a high cardio day.

Thanks for the ideas and feedback! Good luck with your goals...I have only been running for 6-7 years, and went from struggling on the cardio end of it, to absolutely loving it...though I was never very fast.

Today was the first day I logged below 90kg, so a minor victory. Pretty sure I won't make my goal of 88kg by the end of the month but I'm going to keep trying hard.

Still making some good progress. Probably won't be able to post for the next week or two, as I leave on Saturday for a week in Hawaii and a week in California, and I don't think I'll have access to a scale while I'm there. I'm a little concerned that I won't be able to maintain the progress I've made while on vacation, but we'll see. I still plan on tracking my calories though. At least in Hawaii we'll be doing some hiking and stuff so that should help too, California might be a bit more sedentary, so I might have to force myself to go for a walk or something while I'm there.

Historical weights
7/2017: 200 lbs (6 weeks pregnant)
3/2018: 215 lbs (40 weeks pregnant)
04/03/18:192.8 lbs
05/06/18: 181.2 lbs
06/14/18: 172.8 lbs
08/06/18: 168.8 lbs
09/21/18: 165.4 lbs
10/07/18: 162.2 lbs
12/07/18: 157 lbs

Weekly log in
01/09/19: 161.6 lbs
01/17/19: 160.8 lbs
01/28/19: 160.4 lbs

02/01/19: 160.0 lbs
02/10/19: 159.6 lbs
02/12/19: 158.8 lbs
02/21/19: 157.6 lbs (almost lowest adult weight ever, I think)

Still haven't gone shopping, I really dislike spending money and time on clothing.

ETA some historical weights.

Mid January: ~198
Feb 2: 195
Feb 9: 192.6
Feb 16: 190.6
Feb 23: 189.4

I wrecked a day or two of defecit last Saturday at a social dinner. They had moose from Alaska though, so good.

It's interesting how you go through phases in fat loss where you can't really see much visible change for a while then suddenly one day you can. I feel like I'm in one of those in between areas. Have to keep going.

Weekly check-in

Jan 1: 154.2 lbs
Jan 4: 150.2 lbs (lost that water weight!)
Jan 11: 149.8 lbs
Jan 18: 147.4 lbs
Jan 25: 147.8 lbs
Feb 2: 146.8 lbs
Feb 8: 144.6 lbs
Feb 15: 143.6 lbs
Feb 23: 144 lbs

Stats: Female 39, 5ft
Total weight lost: 10.2 lbs
Goal weight: 129 lbs
*Have to reach goal weight by July 7 2019 to get $1080 in prize money from HealthyWager OR I lose $600*
Currently 40.74% towards my goal with 26% time elapsed

A little annoyed that my numbers are slightly higher this week. Then again it is that time of the month and the same thing happened to me last month.

Also, there are just so many social meals! I seem to deal with 2-3 a week and hate to diet through them. I usually bank calories for my social meals but it's not always easy when I have so many of them. I am still staying on my MFP target numbers though so should continue seeing an average loss of 1lb a week.

One more social meal tomorrow and then hoping to buckle down over the next 2 weeks before my cruise. Really want to see at least a 3 lb loss (4 lbs would be ideal) in the next 15 days.

I was still eating healthy this week but not counting calories.  Noticed a few more slip-ups (a couple extra glasses of wine, hunk of cheese here and there, a few more bowls full of multigrain chips).  But I was stressed at work and needed the mental break of not logging food, and I still had some wins (healthy turkey burgers, salmon is marinating for tonight right now).

Keeping on keeping on.  Good luck everyone!

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
