Weekly Check-In

Stats:  6'2, M, 34

Starting Weight:  209.5
Goal Weight:  185

1.14.19 -- 209.5
1.18.19 -- 209
1.26.19 -- 206.5

I'm super happy with the results so far!  I've been burning about 3,000 calories a day, eating about 1,800 so if I can keep it up I can sustain 2 - 2.5 pounds of weight loss a week.  Fitbit indicated a net calorie deficit of 8,909 for the week, which I think right about 2.5 pounds.  BTW, I think my real starting weight on Jan. 1 was higher, I was just too afraid to look at the scale and internalize the damage until I had already started to turn things around.  But I think I'm losing faster now that I'm tracking it consciously.

The great part is that I haven't really felt hungry because I've just been REALLY REALLY conscious of making sure pretty much everything I put in my mouth is something relatively healthy and home-cooked with plenty of protein (eggs, chicken) and healthy fats.  I'm not actively pursuing some sort of low carb diet except that if I want to hit my protein goals and feel full and otherwise keep my diet as streamlined as possible carbs are the thing that disappears.  I didn't even go to the gym this week, but I've been tracking on my Fitbit to try to hit 8,000 steps a day.

I do owe a lot of this to the inspiring posts and threads about meal planning on this forum, because that's what's changed.  My job is super intense and we have little kids, so there's no time for me to cook elaborate meals during the week.  We have to prepare in advance on Sundays and then keep things simple and streamlined during the workweek hustle.

Also, $0 spent on alcohol and $0 on work lunches out in January.  I'd actually spend money to lose weight, so the fact that I get to both save money and lose weight is great.  :)

Hi all:

So, I got down to about 200 pounds, then fell off the wagon in March, but then restarted in June and have been consistent now for three months.   I got all the way back up to 208.4 but now as of today I am 197.2.  I found out during this process that my thyroid medication was not strong enough and my metabolism was objectively too slow... I started losing faster once the meds changed.

I was doing GREAT at exercising in July and August.  In September, I've still been walking a lot but fell off the wagon in terms of regular gym routine.  So the goal for now is to keep losing weight but restart that.

The only thing that's ever worked for me to consistently lose more than a few pounds is logging everything, consistently, day in and day out, on my fitness pal.

I spent the rest of July around 86.5 - 87 kg. I then went overseas travelling for 2 months, with the goal of not putting on any weight.
This morning I'm down to 84.3kg :) :) :)
I'll weigh in and post as usual on the 1st of the month. It would be great to be under 84kg!

I'll be attempting sober October to get back on track. Lowest i got was about 217 but lowest consistent weight was 218-219. I'm currently back to mid 220s so have a bit of work to do. Goal remains 208lbs/95kg.

Winter is usually a bit harder but with a good gym routine I should be able to keep it up.

I find alcohol really slows my weight loss. Go for it, and good luck!

August 2018: 236.8

February 28th: 189.2
March 31st: 184

August 31st: 166.6
September 30th: 160.6

Yesterday’s weigh in was an oddity. I’ve actually been hovering around 162. I’m inching closer to my goal of 149, which will put me in the healthy BMI category. I would love to be 145 by the end of the year.

A little disappointing...I had been down to under 82.5 several times during the last month and was hoping for 0.5-1kg loss. About a week ago I bounced back up to 83 - 83.5 for no apparent reason and haven't been able to go down again. Ah the vagaries of the human body.

Still, in the last year, I have lost 13kg or 2 stone or 28lbs. If I can emulate that in the coming year I will be starting to move around more easily and have more energy.

I had gotten to nearly 158, but my eating has been horrible and I haven’t been working out for as much time as I was previously. I don’t know what’s gotten into me, but I’m working to get it back on track this month. I’m really sick of gaining and losing the same damn 5 lbs. On the bright side, my husband and some of my friends have told me that I look to be gaining muscle and losing fat.

Update
May 12th - 135.6 lbs
May 22nd - 134 lbs
June 14th - 130.8 lbs
July 7th - 129.0 lbs
July 23rd - 127.0 lbs
August 12th - 125.8lbs

I'm doing a little bit of yoga/walking/body weight exercises. I think the weight loss is still mostly from the breastfeeding. I'm happy to see the number going down and getting closer to my goal of 115 but I really need to work out a little more to firm some areas up ;)

@haypug16 I’m exactly the same weight you were in August. I’ve been doing MFP logging consistently since then and have lost 5 pounds in that time. I have always been very active but the only way I lose is MFP. Congrats on getting to 122! My long term goal is 120 but 125ish seems to be my new plateau. I figure in January I will actively try to lose again. Right now I’m just trying not to gain over the holidays.

Hey I probably should have joined this thread months ago!

My weight has been creeping up for years:

in high school:  I was underweight (~100 lbs) and actually had trouble gaining weight.
in my 30s:  Perfect weight, 125 lbs (I'm 5'5").
in my 40s:  Drifted up to 135 lbs, mostly in the tummy.
after I hit menopause:  first up to 140 lbs then the real badness started.  Over the past 7 years I've drifted up and in August I crossed the 160 lb mark.  YIKES!!!!

I won't even bother trying to list all the diets I tried during this time....everything from Fit for Life to paleo. Nothing helped.

I started the ketogenic diet in midsummer when I was 161 lbs.  I spent a few days religiously counting macros for all the foods I planned to include, calculated menus etc, then decided to wing it from there.

I'm now 138 lbs!  Yay!!  But, I still have a ways to go, I'd like to lose the menopot and get down closer to the 125-130 lb range.  I've been stalled for several weeks due to all the holiday parties and a couple of out of town business trips, and decided, heck with it, I'm going to enjoy my egg nog and rum, Baileys etc this Christmas.  Hoping to get back on the wagon come January.  There will be a 2020 thread I presume?

Here are mine for the year. Overall down 5 pounds which is a lot for me. I would like to lose another 5 next year. I used MFP. Lately been trying to eat more protein to help with some health issues.

1/19 -- 128.3
(bounced between 127-128 until I started trying to lose weight in July)
7/19 -- 128.8
8/19 -- 128.0
9/19 -- 127.5
10/19 -- 126.0
11/19 -- 125.7
12/19 -- 124.4

Some struggles but also some encouraging successes above :)

I had hit my goal of 130lbs in July but then hoped to drop another 5-10lbs. Didn't go back on MyFitnessPal so instead have just struggled to maintain. I have gained and lost the same 3-5 lbs multiple times over the last 6 months. Which is more or less maintaining so I'll count it as a win.

I mostly use intermittent fasting these days. If the pounds start creeping too high, I'll water fast for a day or two and that drops 2-3lbs quite easily. Feels rather like cheating.

I was excited to see your post! After a year of continuing to try and lose the same 10 pounds that I've been fighting for 6 years I decided to finally bite the bullet and look into intermittent fasting.

I decided to peak at this thread and see if anyone else uses it successfully.

So yay!

Weight loss in 2019: 43.8 lbs (53.8 lbs, if you count the extra weight I put on during a vacation and then had to lose again).
Total weight loss: 81.8 lbs

I didn’t hit my final goal yet, but I’m definitely making my way there. When I started, I was in Class 3 obesity. Now, I’m just a few pounds away from being in the healthy BMI category. I have no doubt that I will get there is 2020.

Final weigh in of the decade: 175.2!
I have been working hard since October, logging food religiously on MFP and switching up my workouts at the gym, going daily on my lunch break.
Only down 3lbs since the January 2019 but compared to where I was around July, its a huge improvement.  Looking forward to 2020 and finally seeing the 160s or even the 150s.

7/4/19  -  88.5kg    195
1/5/19 -  87kg        192 lbs         BMI 34.9     Class I Obesity

30/7/19 - 87kg       192 lbs
1/10/19 - 83.1 kg     183 lbs
1/11/19 - 83.2kg     183lbs
1/1/20  - 84.1kg      184.5lbs

Ok , Finished on 1/1/20 at 84.1kg or 184.5. I was really over the whole thing November/December, and was mostly feeling good and "thin" and not heavy and overweight. So I went for maintenance and may have eaten a little too much Xmas pudding.

So for 2019 I lost 8kg, and net weight loss since starting this journey 14 months ago is 12kg. Its slow, but I've not yo-yo'ed other than a couple of kg here and there, so I'm pleased with that. As they used to say at weight watchers years ago staying the same weight is success, particularly if you've been a yo yo dieter like me.

I'm raring to go again now, and looking to take it up a notch again.
Goal is 2 kg a month, at least for the next few months. And I hope to lose at least an average of 1kg/month over the coming year ie 12kg in the coming year ie finish 2020 at 72kg.
