Travelling, nice, somewhat tough sometimes w/the kids, but really pretty good. Yesterday we did a long hike, I think about 13 000 steps for me, so a lot more for the kids. Especially tough on little one, but not too much complaining from him. They are pretty used to walking a lot.
Today a slow day, will hit the beach later. Tomorrow we move on to a new area. Plan is beach & some historical sites.
Please note I use a color scheme that differs a bit form most in this thread.
Blue = good progressOrange = at riskRed = did not happenGreen = completed- Focus goal: Pack for the three trips we are taking well in advance, and make sure to not overpack. Write down packing lists for the summer: One overnight stay in a simple cabin w/kids. Sleeping bags, snacks, bathing gear, medicin. One 16 day road trip w/kids: some kitchen gear, sheets&towels&laundry detergent, fun stuff, all chargers and no bikes this year. One short hike w/friends.
- Focus goal: Sort out balcony plants before we leave. Good enough :-).
- Do some yoga.
- Do some strength exercises.
- Do some running.
- Sort out the living room. Make it nice for me. So my living room is small, I come from a house, got divorced, moved into a small apartment, kids have their own rooms and the living room is mine. I am an aspiring minimalist and I love to have a smallish apartment/not a bedroom for me, but I need to keep the living room nice to be happy. The room has a big sofa, one I really love, part of which is my bed (fold out sleeper sofa). A couple of small very easy-to-move tables, a big arm chair and a big cupboard. And a lot of stuff that should no be in there. My July goal was to remove the stuff and get the room possible for the Roomba. However, it is a bit furniture crowded. We spent a night at my mum's and she said she probably wanted a similar arm chair to the one I have. So after a couple of days, I realised: What a great opportunity! I called her and said she can borrow mine for
a longer time period, as I want to see what it feels and looks like to not have in there. They will come pick it up later this summer (we live about two hours from each other). So happy! - Sort out the kitchen: Empty out and rearrange kitchen cupboards.
- Finish the will.
- Plan second half of 2021.
- Walk 248 000 steps. This will be a tough one in July as I will have so much time w/the kids. I am currently a bit behind and the next few days will make it worse. I don't know if I can make it in July but I will try. Still good for the year though.
- During trips - think about my upcoming birthday.
I have spent the last few days thinking about my life as it is now and as I want it to be during the next few years. I plan to FIRE in five years, however, not sure about how the divorce will impact this. I know where I am financially but not 100% sure of "steady state" savings etc. Also not sure about what I will need after FIRE as I have pretty young kids, they will be around 15 yrs then. I have no idea what teenagers cost :-D.
Also, I am thinking about my health and level of fitness a lot. This started as "I don't like the way I look, I want to be skinnier" (I want to be younger...). However, it has turned into "I want to be stronger and fitter", and more about health and a good life even when I am older. I am not that overweight, but I am not fit at all. I really want to be able to run at least 5 km without stopping, I am very far from that now.
I will continue this line of thought in my journal later on.
