Joining, very late, but work is hectic w/quarter close. I will be travelling a lot in July (for fun, with the kids, yay! :-) ) so I have to be realistic about my goals.

Please note I use a color scheme that differs a bit form most in this thread.
Blue = good progress
Orange = at risk
Red = did not happen
Green = completed

  • Focus goal: Pack for the three trips we are taking well in advance, and make sure to not overpack. Write down packing lists for the summer: One overnight stay in a simple cabin w/kids Sleeping bags, snacks, bathing gear, medicin. One 16 day road trip w/kids: some kitchen gear, sheets&towels&laundry detergent, fun stuff, all chargers and no bikes this year. One short hike w/friends.
  • Focus goal: Sort out balcony plants before we leave. This has to be completed this week.
  • Do some yoga.
  • Do some strength exercises.
  • Do some running.
  • Sort out the living room. Make it nice for me.
  • Sort out the kitchen: Empty out and rearrange kitchen cupboards.
  • Finish the will.
  • Plan second half of 2021.
  • Walk 248 000 steps. This will be a tough one in July as I will have so much time w/the kids.
  • During trips - think about my upcoming birthday.

I think that's it. 11 items seem pretty much, however, they are either small/pretty quick to accomplish (no 1, 2, 6, 7, 8) or very lofty/therefore easy to fulfill (no 3, 4, 5, 9, 11. They only one that is a proper struggle is the walking goal, they other ones are actually pretty doable if I just decide to do them. We'll see. I have gotten so much done during first half of 2021 thanks to these threads :-).

You are doing really welll with the move - I can understand it must be a rather hectic period right now. are you able to relax during the holiday weekend? Do you all have Sat-Mon off or how does it work? (I know in UK if a bank holiday falls on a weekend day, then they have Monday off)

Yes, I had Monday off. That is normal here as well, when a holiday falls on the weekend.  I did not spend the weekend relaxing, though!  Saturday was berry picking and canning the jam.  Sunday was assembling the sideboard and organizing the kitchen/dining cabinets.  Monday I visited my dad 2 hours away and helped him clear out a lot of things from my old room and the basement - which is why organizing books is added to my list now!  I have several boxes that I brought back with me, that now need to be gone through and put away.

The upcoming weekend should be more restful, assuming nothing else happens with the house.

I think I will join - have major work burnout and I don't not seem to have any interest in anything - hopefully this will motivate me to do something - anything

1) Read 4 books - I am 2/4 thanks to a flight for work
2) Set up my indoor Vermiculture project which has been staring at me
3) Make vegan lemon curd - something new - I have never made any jam
4) Complete decluttering the final bedroom so we can repair the roof.
5) Buy new bathroom cabinet so we can complete last years project
6) Loose 2 pounds (have way more than this to loose).
7) Quit smoking - already in process.

Will leave it there - baby steps

Work hectic until last Friday, and I am not really finished yet, need to sort out a minor thing tomorrow, which I hope will not take too long.
I got my second anti-Covid dose on Friday, which made me rather tired so not much happened during the weekend, but now much better again.

You are also doing great Raenia! I am excited that you are ready to list the house.

As for me, I am lazy at the beach. Realising that traveling with kids that are 10 and 8 is so much easier than it has been with smaller kids. My kids do not go out swimming without me, but if they did, I would be OK as it is very shallow for more than 100 yards out. But they prefer to build sand formations, and I can relax, which is a luxury when traveling as a single parent.

This also means I get a lot of time to think, which is glorious, and I am thinking about changes I want to make in my life for the next few years. I will write more about this and do a formal weekly update tomorrow when I can use the computer.

Travelling, nice, somewhat tough sometimes w/the kids, but really pretty good. Yesterday we did a long hike, I think about 13 000 steps for me, so a lot more for the kids. Especially tough on little one, but not too much complaining from him. They are pretty used to walking a lot.

Today a slow day, will hit the beach later. Tomorrow we move on to a new area. Plan is beach & some historical sites.

Please note I use a color scheme that differs a bit form most in this thread.
Blue = good progress
Orange = at risk
Red = did not happen
Green = completed

  • Focus goal: Pack for the three trips we are taking well in advance, and make sure to not overpack. Write down packing lists for the summer: One overnight stay in a simple cabin w/kids. Sleeping bags, snacks, bathing gear, medicin. One 16 day road trip w/kids: some kitchen gear, sheets&towels&laundry detergent, fun stuff, all chargers and no bikes this year. One short hike w/friends.
  • Focus goal: Sort out balcony plants before we leave. Good enough :-).
  • Do some yoga.
  • Do some strength exercises.
  • Do some running.
  • Sort out the living room. Make it nice for me. So my living room is small, I come from a house, got divorced, moved into a small apartment, kids have their own rooms and the living room is mine. I am an aspiring minimalist and I love to have a smallish apartment/not a bedroom for me, but I need to keep the living room nice to be happy. The room has a big sofa, one I really love, part of which is my bed (fold out sleeper sofa). A couple of small very easy-to-move tables, a big arm chair and a big cupboard. And a lot of stuff that should no be in there. My July goal was to remove the stuff and get the room possible for the Roomba. However, it is a bit furniture crowded. We spent a night at my mum's and she said she probably wanted a similar arm chair to the one I have. So after a couple of days, I realised: What a great opportunity! I called her and said she can borrow mine for
    a longer time period, as I want to see what it feels and looks like to not have in there. They will come pick it up later this summer (we live about two hours from each other). So happy!
  • Sort out the kitchen: Empty out and rearrange kitchen cupboards.
  • Finish the will.
  • Plan second half of 2021.
  • Walk 248 000 steps. This will be a tough one in July as I will have so much time w/the kids. I am currently a bit behind and the next few days will make it worse. I don't know if I can make it in July but I will try. Still good for the year though.
  • During trips - think about my upcoming birthday.

I have spent the last few days thinking about my life as it is now and as I want it to be during the next few years. I plan to FIRE in five years, however, not sure about how the divorce will impact this. I know where I am financially but not 100% sure of "steady state" savings etc. Also not sure about what I will need after FIRE as I have pretty young kids, they will be around 15 yrs then. I have no idea what teenagers cost :-D.
Also, I am thinking about my health and level of fitness a lot. This started as "I don't like the way I  look, I want to be skinnier" (I want to be younger...). However, it has turned into "I want to be stronger and fitter", and more about health and a good life even when I am older. I am not that overweight, but I am not fit at all. I really want to be able to run at least 5 km without stopping, I am very far from that now.

I will continue this line of thought in my journal later on.

Back home from long trip w/kids yesterday, travelling again tomorrow but rather short distance and one night only, for a hike w/two friends.
Time w/the kids was somewhat tough but mostly great.

Today I went for a really long walk, 16 000 steps in total for the day. Tired now, but need to pack a few things. Will leave just before 9 tomorrow morning.

Please note I use a color scheme that differs a bit form most in this thread.
Blue = good progress
Orange = at risk
Red = did not happen
Green = completed

• Focus goal: Sort out balcony plants before we leave. Good enough :-).
  • Do some yoga.
  • Do some strength exercises.
  • Do some running.
  • Sort out the living room. Make it nice for me. No progress really, but have not been home. My July goal was to remove the stuff and get the room possible for the Roomba. Need to finish in August.
  • Sort out the kitchen: Empty out and rearrange kitchen cupboards. Need to move to August.
  • Finish the will.Need to move to August, but then it has to be completed. It is not difficult. Should not take more than 30 minutes now, so much done already.
  • Plan second half of 2021.
  • Walk 248 000 steps. This will be a tough one in July as I will have so much time w/the kids. I am now a bit ahead of schedule, and hope to make it as we are hiking  last two days of July. Need 13 000 steps more in total - should be doable.
  • During trips - think about my upcoming birthday.

The hiking w/my friends was great. Ended up w/12 k steps Friday and 20k yesterday so I crushed my step goal, which I was a bit worried about.
We ate really good food, and wine, and talked and laughed a lot. However, I realise that I need to get in better shape, I am still a bit heavy and as it was mountain hiking, lots of steep uphill, and I got really out of breath a couple of times. The others are in better shape than me. However, I am a better distance hiker, so at least that is good.

Red = did not happen
Green = completed

Did not do this well in advance. Have to be better for short August trip.
  • Focus goal: Sort out balcony plants before we leave. Good enough :-).
  • Do some yoga.
  • Do some strength exercises.
  • Do some running. Only barely started, but at least it's something.
  • Sort out the living room. Make it nice for me. There has been some progress but could have been better. My July goal was to remove the stuff and get the room possible for the Roomba. Need to finish in August.
  • Sort out the kitchen: Empty out and rearrange kitchen cupboards. Need to move to August.
  • Finish the will. Need to move to August, but then it has to be completed. It is not difficult. Should not take more than 30 minutes now, so much done already.
  • Plan second half of 2021. Not a lot of progress.
  • Walk 248 000 steps. This will be a tough one in July as I will have so much time w/the kids. 267 572!!
  • During trips - think about my upcoming birthday. Actually did, had a good brainstorming and onversation w/my close friends, and have made some decisions.

Also, a short overall comment:

I need to realise that when I spend a major part of the month away from home, and the few days I am home before going on holiday is packed with finishing work and preparing holiday, I am not able to do a lot of projects etc.
I am most happy about the step goal.
I am most disappointed that I didn't pack better in advance, so stupid, and creating unnecessary stress. This was completely doable. I need to be better and not procrastrinate.

That's good insight. How will you adapt your goals for the August travel?

That is a very valid question. I think I will be ok, as I will only be travelling for four days/three nights, but I need to be very aware and plan accordingly for the rest of the month. Also, it will be a pretty low-key trip, so I can work on some of my August goals during the trip if I "schedule" it in.
  • Will meet a friend, we may do yoga together at least once, I can also do it myself.
  • I will make sure I do some walking with and w/o kids.
  • I may run once during those days, but probably not.
  • Pack for trip in advance will happen before trip or not at all :-)
  • I can think about plans for rest of 2021.
  • One item on my August list is directly related to the trip (During trip - focus on my life/do not let other people upset me).
  • And one other is perfect to work on during trips, as there are possibilities for good input (knowledge & ideas) from others.

Thank you @oneday, that was a really good to think about and get into writing!!
