I'm currently wearing a sparkly dress over ski tights with a cardigan on top..and am reading in bed. It's 6pm. I'm contented.

My plans for NY eve= fondue dinner, maybe a movie about Vivienne Westwood, bed.
+ Wake up for an early ski while many others are sleeping off a hangover :)

Yesterday: seeing friends and family for the new year and celebrating in our familiar ways.

Today: the rain has stopped and I'm pretty sure BF will hike with me.

I read a really good book yesterday. It was one of those fun, lighthearted page turners. I couldn't put it down. Ended up going to sleep at 1 AM. Thankfully, workload today is quite light.

Thanks ngu. The only drawback to this group is that it's hard to get a chat in with each and every one, every time. Regular meetups help.

Today I reached out to the former Tennant, who got some mail here. Turns out it is a Christmas ornament for her girls first Christmas. 💝 Happy to be able to redirect that to it's proper home

My cat is so dedicated to sitting on my lap, that he's scrunched up in the space left in the chair (it's not much) with his neck at a funny angle. I hope he doesn't get a crick in his neck.

So much goodness today - lemon tree from friends is planted, we walked along the beach with the boys before the rain came, ate real fruit ice cream for the first time, and awesome lunchtime hangs with my sister’s family. Just a peach of a day.

@mspym - that sounds like an amazing day!

We took our teen skiing, & it was a fabulous family vacation. Lots of adventure (so much snow), but some really fun times together.

After seeing a couple interact in their train wreck of a marriage and watching them belittle, criticize, demean, and show contempt for each other for 1.5 hours last night, DH and I reflected afterwards on how, even though our marriage is far from perfect and sometimes he aggravates me to the point that I just want to bop DH on the head, we actually have a really good, solid marriage. Made me realize how much we appreciate each other.

Both of you are so sweet. I just wanna say "awww :)"

Today was belated Christmas with family in order to accommodate everyone's schedules and it was so mellow. Frozen lasagna, gifts mainly for the kids, no requirements/pressure to dress in certain colors or in certain ways. Nice.

Second happiness was my BF came along and was able to tolerate the chaos (he's not a big fan of kids), and even have a good time.

Neighbor cat-sat over the holidays for my cat. Today I went over to meet her kitties. One is food motivated and was easy to win over. He is my friend now because I fed him. :)

The other is far more standoffish, but today I was able to get in sniffing distance, play with a fishing pole toy, feed treats and even touch the ends of her fur (long hair). This is huge progress! Soon we will be friends too.

Made a cold brew coffee and didn’t have any milk, so I added evaporated milk instead. Whoa! I don’t think I’ll drink coffee any other way from now on. It was amazing!

I'll have to try this, thanks!  I used some evaporated milk the other night to replace half and half in a recipe, and that worked really well.

I'm just now remembering that my grandma always used evaporated milk instead of regular milk.  For everything -- drinking, on cereal, etc.  I always thought it was a holdover habit from her youth, when they didn't have a refrigerator.  But the stuff really tastes good.

My bestie and I have a couple of trips we take every year.  I've missed the last 2 years (one year for covid, the next year because my mom was sick).

Tomorrow morning at 7:30 in the AM, I am picking her up, and we are hitting the road.  I am so stoked!!!

BTW, another happiness is that you all keep this lovely thread going.  Thanks everyone!!

Realized weekend plans for a visitor were not going to mesh with live-in BF's sleep schedule. The other party was happy to change. So happy to realize it early enough to adjust in a way that nobody will be inconvenienced! This is not how it always goes.

It's pouring rain (on top of lots of snow) and instead of feeling oppressive it feels like a good excuse to stay indoors and read.

It’s raining today, and I am enjoying our cozy apartment and a hot tea. I just realized we’ve been in this apartment for almost four years already. This is the longest that I have stayed in one abode since moving out for college 24 years ago.

Happy for a successful weekend snowmobile trip.  Four of us in the group, no mechanical issues, great trail conditions and weather.  For logistical reasons I had to lead one of the new riders through about 20 miles of northwoods trails to meet up with others.  The same area I got lost in about 18 years ago, but was pretty smooth this time.

Woke up a couple hours early (5am)  but felt rested so went downstairs for quiet, dark reading time.  Still have some fairy lights up and it is just so lovely and the world was still still. No traffic yet!

I had to stop by Sam's Club today for some household goods and decided to grab lunch at their little cafe. Two slices of four meat pizza was only $2.14 and he even covered my plate in foil so I could take it to go! What a deal!

I have a bum knee at the moment, and a bunch of appointments & rehab ahead. I'm very frustrated, as I love the endorphins of working out, and it keeps me mentally happy. I went for a long, slow (approved) walk today in the sunshine, and while it was no calorie burn, it was lovely to be outside & a great reminder that I at least have the capability of doing that.

Biked down by the river and bumped into a friend who showed us a new trail that had opened in the past couple weeks. This bike trail should take us from our home all the way downtown to some of our favorite restaurants. We are looking forward to checking it out once the weather gets warmer.

I've had a cat snuggled up in the crook of my arm with his head on my shoulder literally all afternoon/evening. He's not moving, which is nice because I'm on strict icing and rest today, so I'm not moving either.
