Embelished a package of Zataran's jambalya rice mix...happiness on two fronts: used up a couple things that were aging, made enough for leftovers (which I like) and it was delicious!

A crucial piece of equipment for my studio which I'd thought had been delayed, will arrive just in time for this summer's workshops and exhibitions at an art and design center. So relieved. Nobody makes these quality, portable Hollander beater machines at an affordable price but a papermaker in New Zealand who's been too busy to answer phone and emails. Now can source the motor knowing it'll be on its way soon! Priceless.

It's yoga day, yay!

Update at 11:00: Although I didn't expect to be snowed on during my walk there. How rude.

We are in Shanghai and are currently under full lockdown. There are several workers (guards, gardeners, maintenance men) who are locked down with us in our complex with no food, bedding, or daily necessities like towels and toothbrushes. Yesterday, I, along with several other residents, donated several items to them. I donated a big bag of bedding and towels that had been taking up space in our storage room. It made me happy to reclaim the storage space and to help someone in the process.

Today, I made two batches of muffins for their breakfast, and a big pot of rice is currently cooking on the stove for them. It also makes me very happy to see how many people in our housing complex offered to contribute food to feed the workers over the four days.

One more day in lockdown, and then freedom! (supposedly)

@Freedomin5 good luck to you and you entire city!

Live-in BF invited me along on his walk this evening. I love that he encourages me to get out and get moving more, just by being an example.

Today is massage day, wheeee. She worked wonders on my neck in only one session, so I'm hoping today she can fix my back, too.

Her treatment room is round the corner from an ice-cream parlour, so we were planning to go there for lunch after. But we made those plans last week in Spring. Now it is Winter again and ice-cream isn't quite so appealing.

This afternoon, we received word that we would be allowed out of our apartment to collect our own deliveries. We are still locked down and the metal gates to our housing complex are still shut tight, but we could leave our apartment! I went for a long roundabout walk through the complex to the where parcels are delivered...even though I haven't ordered anything online lately. I'm so happy I was able to go for a walk after being cooped up in my apartment for the past five days.

Weather was nice enough for a few outdoor pursuits: coffee shop patio lounging, walking to nearby estate and yard sales, scored a great deal on garage shelving, immediately filling the shelves by clearing out things that have been languishing in the living room waiting for a place to live! I am so happy with my newly created cavity of space in the pile of still-unpacked boxes from moving :)

Am in a continuing education course which is great. The instructor is knowledgable but not ego-driven.

Also just lovely to be reminded about how wonderful learning is. I LOVe learning...

Someone gifted us a chicken, eggs, milk, rice, and noodles. At a time when food is scarce and kind of hard to come by, this is such a blessing!

@Freedomin5 I am glad you are getting fed! Puts my day in perspective.

Today's happiness was on my walk back from the coffee shop, BF spotted me. He was walking *to* the coffee shop. I still had a bit of drink left and also had a knitting project with me, so turned around and we spent a lovely time on the patio relaxing together.

It's yoga day again. Today is the last class before Easter holidays (boo) so we're going out for coffee as a group afterwards (yay!)

I've been looking at YouTube yoga classes to keep me topped up during the two week break (Adrienne seems to be popular, does anyone have any other suggestions?) but it's not quite the same as getting together with friends.

One of the residents in my building tested positive for COVID, and the CDC will very likely be locking us in our home for the next two weeks. I am very happy that we have been receiving care packages all weekend, and our fridge and pantry are fully stocked with food and other necessities like toilet paper, tissue, laundry detergent, and dish detergent. We have enough to last the entire time, and we even have some luxuries like cookies and cheese!

What's more amazing, a veggie box that I ordered over a week ago finally arrived last night, just in time for lockdown!

@Freedomin5  So glad to hear that you are all stocked up--what a wild experience!

Took a day off of work, due to a potential sore throat. But it turns out that I had just been more social/talkative than normal so my vocal cords were sore/overused. I skipped bookclub and took a day off of work (and have started my taxes, which I've utterly procrastinated) I think I was just feeling overwhelmed so having extra time by myself has created a feeling of spaciousness, which leads to a quiet happiness..
I really do like to keep my schedule quite simple. At least I've learned to respect that.

Picked up my car from the mechanic, and it has a clean bill of health. Also, BF offered to give me a ride in his car...I was going to ride my bike, but it was pretty hot today & also kind of a time crunch between quitting time & shop closing time, so that offer & ride saved my calmness.

Decided to give away a large framed piece of...we'll call it art. BF had an unframed poster which fit into the frame almost perfectly. Blammo! Now we have art in the blank space in the kitchen!

Yesterday I had a major cleaning session in the kitchen, including putting the coffee/tea/sugar jars and the teapot through the dishwasher and mopping the floor. I also ate lots of 'Hub unapproved' food, knit up a storm,  drank too much alcohol and stayed up way too late reading, just as a counterpoint. It was a good day!

Scored four tubes of toothpaste and a free package of yeast from a neighbor!

We are now on the 19th day of our 4-day lockdown. We were down to our last tube of toothpaste, and none of the regular purchasing channels were operating due to lockdown, so I was happy to pay $20 for a few tubes of toothpaste.

Today I got a laundry basket from a stranger on Buy Nothing...this will help now that I don't have in-unit laundry. So nice to be able to repurpose the plastic thing rather than letting it go to landfill!

We just got back from our first ever proper family vacation. It was really fun, and the kids were really well behaved, even on the 10-hour drive each way. It felt too overwhelming to travel with the kids when they were toddlers, and then Covid hit, but now that they're vaccinated and at the age where traveling is fun, I'm looking forward to doing more family trips.

Laundry machine in the community's laundry facility worked! Last time I tried to use it, it ate quarters and refused to start. Clean pj's, woo!

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
