All right, I'm going into December with the focus of tackling the dumpster fire that is 2020 \o/

My goals:

1. Clean up luggage-mess area in front of the closet that’s been sitting there forever.
2. Mail out the packages I’ve been sitting on.
3. Finish reading the 6 books I need to read to hit my goal of 52 for the year.
4. Get gift knitting projects off my plate.
5. Make profiteroles and eclairs a few times as choux practice.

Much Fishing to Do

Ugh, so I guess I better join in as I realized I'm at new all-time highs ..... both for Net Worth (110% FI number) and for body weight....  I'm now at 15lbs over my good weight...which doesn't sound that bad except for the fact that I was just at that good weight in Jan of this year ...... I guess I haven't handled the pandemic well in that realm....

The simultaneous all time highs kinda reminds me of that Roseanne episode after she wins the lottery... she tells Dan that they really have to get healthy, cause now that they have all that money she wants to live!

Like the financials its pretty obvious HOW to do better (less eating, less drinking, and more exercise), I just have to take care to actually follow thru and get back to some better habits.

My goals:

- translate about 60k words in December (it's a low-paying client so I want to be done so I can replace them in my schedule with a client who pays 35% more and who's already lined up)
- Spend >13 hrs working on my own manuscripts
- drop off stuff at the charity shop (provided they re-open)

It's already the 10th... but here is my list. It's a long one, but there is a lot of smallish one-time tasks, which will really improve living in my new apartment. Also, I am off work from the 19th until New years, and no travel plans of course.

  • Focus goal: Christmas gifts no later than 16th. Also, kids are with me from 17th to 24th and again from 31st - make sure I have a good plan in advance for this: food, plans, keeping in touch, having fun.
  • Prepare so bathroom renovation can start early January. Drawing, permission, discuss w/builder, decide on material.
  • Better sleep. Try to be in bed by 10pm, lights out at 10.30 pm when working the next day. Try to go to bed early and rise early also during weekends.
  • Buy and hang kitchen exhaust fan.
  • Loose 1.5 kilos.
  • Some type of movement every day, and tracking it. Yoga at home, walking 232 500 steps, 30 days program, short strength at home program.
  • Set up finances for the future and a renovation plan. Also plan 2021: events, money, travel, apartment plans. Plan 2021 in Trello and calendar (timings, kids, exercise, eating, friends and relatives, work etc).
  • Put floor protectors on table & chairs. Already bought, should take 15 minutes.
  • Go to outdoor practice at least two times (if healthy).
  • Pick up last things from N (very kind ex-neighbour).
  • Sort out lamps: kitchen - get wire, kids room - buy, bedroom - try to get, if sold out - decide on another, living room - decide.
  • Spend health grant from work. This is free money that will be lost otherwise, just spend it already.
  • Unpack - remove last boxes from apartment.
  • Finish assembling sofa.
  • Learn how to drill holes & hang stuff. And then also do it.
  • Decide on coat rack and shoe rack, and buy/order. And hang them if they arrive.
  • Finish 2020 strong at work, and plan a few things for 2021.
  • Get soil for raised beds, plant garlic.
  • Sort out the credit cards.
  • One trip to goodwill.
  • Continue to research tattoo.
  • Continue to take photos.
  • Continuous goals: Keep up w/Italian, walking, yoga, keyboard writing, keeping in touch w/friends and parents, up to date w/finances at least once /week.

@Raenia thanks once again for starting & linking this thread.

My latest start yet. Starting a new job and getting settled into that took priority for the last two weeks. It will continue to be the highest priority/goal until I feel more settled.

December goals:

Focus: new job. Arrive on time, clean & clothed with a lunch and snacks. No tracking, just do it.

Track, but no specific goal:
(Goal, followed by # of days tracked)
hydration 11
flossing 3
physical therapy
stretching and/or yoga
outdoor activity
sleep time 12

respect bedtime (no later than midnight, even weekends) 12
clean up email inbox (starting with 197 emails) under 150 197
Clear Dressertop Of Doom (papers & more) once this month
first task: mail letter to sis, put mailing supplies away

mail passport renewal
clear out old cell phone
scotchguard couch
set up echo dot
return defective shorts
de-fog headlights

Maybe not till Jan, but do in Dec if time allows:
finish fixing loveseat
deal with new electronic copies of old media

One week has passes since I added my Dec goals. Some items completed, some in progress, some are at risk or will not happen.
I work tomorrow as well, and then off rest of December - lovely. Will have more time then.

Blue = good progress
Orange = at risk
Green = completed

All items bought and at home, but not wrapped, however, since I had to sort out from grandparents, and from kids to their dad, I am happy about this. Will wrap when kids sleep. I have not sorted out the plan for kids + me - this will happen during the weekend.
  • Prepare so bathroom renovation can start early January. Drawing, permission, discuss w/builder, decide on material. Procrastrinating so haed on this... Not good.
  • Better sleep. Try to be in bed by 10pm, lights out at 10.30 pm when working the next day. Try to go to bed early and rise early also during weekends.
  • Buy and hang kitchen exhaust fan. Bought but not delivered yet - currently have no idea how to hang it.
Chairs was most important. Will do table when someone can help me lift.
  • Go to outdoor practice at least two times (if healthy). Did not happen, and now Christmas break. Will try to practice a bit at home.
  • Pick up last things from N (very kind ex-neighbour). I really need to do this, should be easier once I am off work.
Need to decide on layout.
  • Learn how to drill holes & hang stuff. And then also do it.
  • Decide on coat rack and shoe rack, and buy/order. And hang them if they arrive.
  • Finish 2020 strong at work, and plan a few things for 2021.

I'm glad I got all the Christmas gifts done in time.  I'm a bit disappointed with the amount of progress on the home repairs, but hopefully the vacation will leave us revitalized going into January.

Speaking of which:

December has ended. Here is my final update. I am really happy that a lot of goals relating to my apartment were completed, it has done wonders for how I feel every day about my space.

Green = completed
Red = did not happen

Here is my list.

It has been good enough. First Christmas as divorced, in an apartment where a lot of things are still not 100% in place, but absolutely good enough. Could I have done better? Yes, but then I would probably have been way too stressed. I have done low-key, low-stress and that was the best way this strange year.
  • Prepare so bathroom renovation can start early January. Drawing, permission, discuss w/builder, decide on material. Procrastrinating so hard on this... Not good. I am not there yet. It is approved, but I still need to send in some more material. I have decided on the layout, but I have absolutely not decided on the looks.
  • Better sleep. Try to be in bed by 10pm, lights out at 10.30 pm when working the next day. Try to go to bed early and rise early also during weekends. Haha...no.
  • Buy and hang kitchen exhaust fan. I got this done! It is amazing! Just a standard one but it really works as intended. So much nicer when I cook.
  • Loose 1.5 kilos. Absolutely not, but at didn't gain in total, which is sort of good around Christmas.
  • Some type of movement every day, and tracking it. Yoga at home, walking 232 500 steps, 30 days program, short strength at home program. I didn't do really all days, but I did most , and I am especially pleased that I reached my walking goal. However, no tracking at all. Need to think about that one.
  • Set up finances for the future and a renovation plan. Also plan 2021: events, money, travel, apartment plans. Plan 2021 in Trello and calendar (timings, kids, exercise, eating, friends and relatives, work etc). I have done nothing about this. Feels sad.
  • Put floor protectors on table & chairs. Chairs was most important and they are done.
Need to decide on layout.
  • Learn how to drill holes & hang stuff. And then also do it. So I know a lot more, and I have done some but not all.
  • Decide on coat rack and shoe rack, and buy/order. And hang them if they arrive. I think I have decided, but still unsure about colour so I haven't ordered yet...
  • Finish 2020 strong at work, and plan a few things for 2021. Good enough...
  • Get soil for raised beds, plant garlic.
  • Sort out the credit cards.
  • One trip to goodwill. But I have sold and given away a lot, and just need to see if neighbour wants things for grandkids, all is sorted to go.
  • Continue to research tattoo.
  • Continue to take photos.
  • Continuous goals: Keep up w/Italian, walking, yoga, keyboard writing, keeping in touch w/friends and parents, up to date w/finances at least once /week. I don't get it, I used to love to do my financial tracking and check up, but not now, when I really need to get to know my new situation. I have lots of money so that is not the issue, but I just don't have it in me to sit down with it.

1. Done.
2. Nope.
3. Done.
4. Nope.
5. Only if you count "buche de noel" and "gingerbread house" as choux, so no. ;)

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
