I'm doing something, most days. But all inclination to run has disappeared

I had that too, after I had that race in the spring.  <shrug>

Walked 3km today.  I'm thinking I'm likely to capitulate and fall into the arms of alcohol (and maybe junk food) tonight.  Except I was in a change room, today, and those mirrors are cruel, cruel truth tellers.

Go Jessa! And okits!

Today was rough. Social stuff and anxiety about everyone hating me, and then on my way home I almost called a number that was deleted from my phone. I tried to cover those feelings with poutine, and since it didn't work, I'll hop on a treadmill or something in the basement once my music downloads.

Today I made a grand effort. I took us both to the pool. It was terrible. Noise, screaming, echoes, chaos, motion, bumping, walls. But I did swim some lengths. Maybe just 14, per this thread. After, I looked up four things to try and make a pool feel more accessible and successful for me. But still, I did move my body!

You ARE a giant hug.

I'm glad you tried. Can you give your brain a mini vacation tomorrow since you coped so hard today?

Two hikes today, 45 min and 1 hour. I should be in much better shape after all the hiking we do, but I still feel so pooped every friggin time I have to hike uphill.

Yesterday all I could muster was 20 min of Yoga, but it was a driving day, so that's ok.

:)    Well, my life is a mini vacation, so yes! But I will also do Step 14 of Buying a House. But no attempts at a pool, just a normal peaceful walk.

Walked 2.5km, and tried to go to bed early but struggled to sleep and was so hungry, especially after baby woke to nurse.  So eating some leftover dinner (but other than a 100%-juice box, no junk food today, no drinking).

Okay, everybody.  I've done practically nothing.  But, going for a brisk walk tonight.  I'm also going to challenge myself to exercise 31 days in October!

Happy to read of everyone's progress!

My shoulder injury is acting up from a car accident earlier this summer, and I've been taught never to resistance-train through a joint pain. As a result, I've suspended my training and started going to physiotherapy and massage therapy with a focus on rehabilitating the shoulder. RIP my progress :(

So...my brain, for whatever reason, read that last one as "Yoga, including husband." and i was like, whoa, what kind of yoga can you do with your husband? Is it like karma sutra stuff? I got all excited for a second, then re-read and was like, ooooh. that thing where my head blows up, nevermind.

Maybe i've been reading MJ's posts too much...

I have been walking more everyday.  Trying to get to 10k steps. Everyday is different but sometimes I go beyond it.

Last night I went on the treadmill again. Ran and walked. More walking than usual, because I wasn't feeling very energetic, but enough running to be sweaty (that's how we know it's working, right?)
Then yoga
Taking care of myself is starting to be more of a habit, AND I'm noticing signs that I was probably stuck with some dysthymia and didn't notice (now sleeping deeper and waking naturally and alert, housekeeping and grooming are getting better). This is a combo of a tea I started drinking and the exercise working together, and I don't want to underestimate the journaling. Really important that I got out of it before winter or things could be even worse.

Yay! Making great changes

Lol, but I don't even have a husband. So it would have to be someone else's

I have not been walking this week.  It's been 30C+ with high humidity, so nope, not doing it.  But I've been doing a lot of repairs in the house that require going up and down ladders, up and down stairs, etc.  I figure if I'm still working up a sweat when we have a/c (although only set to 25C, not frigid) it still counts.

I walked 4.94 miles today. If I'd realized how close i was to 5, i would've wandered around the house a few times, but whatever, close enough.

It's called hoodia trim, made by Flora, and has garcinia camboga. Bought on impulse, but the tea does seem to be raising my serotonin levels.

That name seriously makes me think of lady bits.  That's some exciting tea you got there, EF. ;)

Sat: chased kids around for hours
Sun: did 10 wimpy push-ups (my gut touched the floor, but didn't go so low as to touch my nose)
Today: walked a wimpy 1.5km

I'm going to have more free time, starting next week, to pursue more activity.  I actually slept seven hours on Sat night (only the second time in 16 months), and had more energy as a result.  More sleep, please!

5 minutes of yoga yesterday, and trying so hard to talk myself into basement running. But also sleepy and crampy. But also sent texts last night (maybe because I didn't do my self torture or journal?)

Exercise habits are hard.

They just have circus school (that's what they call it!) for adults now too. Kid used to go to one; now I get to also! Trampolines and silks and unicycles... LOL!!! Facing all the fears, being the worst at everything so far, and loving it!

Still continuing to walk or exercise bike (the bike to nowhere per Jon Snow lol), but still seriously out of shape. I mean, I must be improving, but it is so slow I can't really notice. Anyway, I am stressing out a bit because I am going on vacation in a week with my very fit son, and he wants to do some hikes. I had to email him and say I might be able to do one very easy one, but that would be about it. My knees are not the greatest, and I afeared one might give out on me. Sucks to be so old, fat, and out of shape. (Having a pity party, in case you didn't notice.)

Way to go, Prairie Gal!! Your starting point is way harder than that of many. Your internal strength and your commitment to movement is thus also more INSPIRING.

And, you're allowed to not injure a stressed knee via a hike :)
Maybe your very fit son would love some pool time?

I had my usual week of walking and yoga.  Next week I'm going to pretty busy so I'll get in more yoga but actual gym time might wait another week.  Pretty sure there will be more walking, though.

I mean, I must be improving, but it is so slow I can't really notice.

Do you track your workouts in any way? I use the app "Map my Walk" when i go walking, to track both time and distance. I started out at 3 mile walks, and am now doing 5 mile walks. but it also tells me how fast i do them, so i was averaging about 18.5 minutes/mile at the beginning, and yesterday i did about 17.5 minutes/mile. So I'm getting better! But if i didn't have the app tracking me, i wouldn't know, because i still huff and puff and get sore.

Do you have any way to get to a pool? If you have bad knees, biking can be kind of hard on them, but swimming and water aerobics are supposed to be really good exercise with almost no pressure on your weight bearing joints.

Yay Prairie Gal! I bet if you were somewhere with a specific memory of dificultness (wandering x trail or y mega store) you might notice it being a little less hard. But just like with money, sometimes we slog through

Yay okits! You have taken the routine part of this seriously. I can't believe your 2 will both be in daycare!

Jessa! You are a speedier sparkle.

-
So I'm not seeing results of my exercise in the vain ways I want to, but I'm noticing a link to my mental state and sleep quality which is more important but maybe not as motivating? If I go 2 days without exercise or journalling, the bizarre thoughts worm in. So I've noticed that pattern, and now I can say to myself that there is a reason for these unwelcome thoughts, let's do the things that help.

The other noticeable effect is on my stamina. I hope speed improves, otherwise I may finish my goal triathlon after the course closes.

Monday I cycled and did yoga.

Yesterday I slept 7pm to 9am with a water and journal break.

Today I made it to the dungeon - 15 min of running plus a few weights. Definitely more of a habit. And not burnt out from exercise. Just from adulting. My scale is broken, so tomorrow I'll weigh in at the clinic and compare to last week. I want those big, vain results.

PS, now that I'm exercising, what do I do about my hair? It Hayes daily washing. But exercise = grease pit. Do I just let it be a rat's nest of baby powder? Is this what Instagram girls do?

If you stick to washing it every other day, will the greasiness eventually ease up?

Or, rinse and rub scalp with water-only?

I've been walking a fair bit, (easy) yoga once this week, already.  Boring, same-old, but I'm doing it.

Prenatal yoga Monday, walk at lunch Tues & Weds, regular yoga Wednesday.

Getting pregnant is a good motivator to make myself move more. And moving is better than eating vegetables (although i try to do that, too.)

One of my goals for January 2018 is to walk at least one mile every day. This isn't counting random steps i make throughout the day, but to make the effort to take a walk every day. So far, it's working.

I went to prenatal yoga last night.

I loved prenatal yoga!  The stretching made my third trimester body feel good.  Post-natal yoga was good because I could bring bub and use him as a prop.  ;)

My non-natal yesterday made my abs sore.  That's good, I guess?
