Just got back from my 1.5 mile walk for the first time in a few days.  On concrete sidewalk along a town street, but it is the best I have been able to do lately.

Thanks Bicycle B!

I read about NEAT thanks to wintertell, and since then I've been really trying to keep that in mind and make choices like taking the stairs or parking farther away. Even on vacation, maybe especially on vacation. And now we are at Disneyland, so there is no shortage of movement. Yesterday, my husband's FitBit recorded 22,200 steps! I don't have a device like that, but if anything, I took more steps, so phew! Today, not so many steps. We were wiped out! But we'll be back at it tomorrow. :)

We've been in Beijing almost a week. Probably have walked 2~5 miles a day. Maybe more yesterday when we took DD to Tiananmen and Qianmen, and then also walked home from dinner.

On the train to Tianjin now, where we will do more walking.
Beijing was awesome! Check out Hou Hai one evening if you can.

In January my scales read 250.2 pounds.  That was the day I decided I wasn't going any higher.
My scales will never read that high again.  I started an 1800 calorie diet and from time to time will walk.  I have bought a used bike, but have only ridden it once.  I am in on this challenge and will give periodical updates as a form of accountability. This may be the jump start I need to finish off my weight loss goal of being under 200 pounds.  I presently weigh 218.8 pounds.

Guys. We have an issue. I am 15km from home. By bike.  I brought a picnic, and ate it at km6. The end goal was an area with a whole foods (fun!) And a train station. The idea being that I would eat the rest of my picnic (what rest), top up my water, and bike home or admit defeat and take the train.

Somehow I'm eating $11 worth of buffet. So I'm going to bike home.

Those people we know who are doing a long distance ride are brave or foolish or a little of both.

Also, I will not run 5k tonight

I'm home and clean! Luckily there was a faster way back, so 'only' a 24k ride. I'm sure as a kid I could do 20 without breaks. There were breaks and snacks and I imagine that tomorrow I will wakeup either with newfound aches, or completely fit and healthy. I've even eaten healthy food today, so most likely 10-40 pounds will be gone and replaced with strong, flexible muscles.

If that's from Whole Foods, that's really only about a cup of food.  :P

Good for you for running on Saturday.  After all that biking I wouldn't think you should run today, either.

Yesterday I chased my kids around for hours, outside.  Today, since one was sick we mostly stayed at home (not much chasing needed).  We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Super impressive, Vintage509!  I am experimenting with keeping an exercise journal (paper notebook).  Strange, but even though I'm the only one who sees it I do find it helps with holding me accountable.

(8/13/17) I'm in. For the first time in almost a year I stepped foot in my gym for day 1. It was embarrassing. It wasn't pretty. I struggled with almost no weight. It was nothing like 2015 when I ate dumbbells for breakfast. But I did it. And I feel "good tired" for the first time in a really long time. I want to make this a habit again, I owe it to myself.
(8/16/17) Went in again at 6am before work. Day 2. So sore but so worth it! Pull day.
(8/19/17) Leg day today. Had to skip a set of romanian deadlifts because I felt like I was wayy overdoing it. Weights were super light but the last time I did a true "leg day" was 4/13/16 according to my app, so I pretty much have had to start from zero. [65#5x5 Squat; 50#2x8 Romanian Deadlift; 50#3x15 Leg Press; 50#3x15 Calf Press.]
(8/20/17) Push day again! :)
(8/22/17) Pull day. Went in at 6am and wasn't that crowded, I was shocked. Building a habit!!

Walked 2.8 miles this morning, then my little hike up to Internet rock. The day is still early, so we'll see what other trouble I can get into!

Vintage - wonderful!  Welcome.

Elle - I would also expect to lose 10-40 lbs after that bike ride.

Bicycle - thanks for the cheering!

Wrestled an 80 pound toilet in and out of the car, and carried upstairs.  Took old toilet down to the garage for garbage day next week.  Rested for an hour!  I'm getting too old for this stuff.  (senior)

Then did 5 hours of gardening - digging out my daylilies, separating them, replanting and rearranging things.  Still have many more hours of work to do, so that will be another day.

lexde, you are killing it!

Walked 1.4km to/from errands, plus whatever else, navigating the shopping mall.

My toddler son feels heavier than before, do I get credit for hoisting a progressively bigger human?  :)

I did a shorter version of my evening walk, but a bit over a mile.  I let it get too dark before I set out.  I'm probably totally safe as I'm on a main street in a small town.  I just don't like to be alone walking at night.

Thanks so much! This thread was really what I needed to bite the bullet and jump in again. And you definitely get credit for hoisting the ever-growing human!! That takes more energy than the gym for sure!

Walked about 1.7 miles yesterday.  Also, did a little bit of step aerobics.  Did not last long beyond the warmup but will get there with consistency.

Normal work and errands type walking. Haven't managed another run, but this weekend is active. And this morning I hit my pre-cottage weight.

Tonight I will trudge my backpack to a friend's house

Walked 3.9km doing errands.  One hour of yoga.  My thighs are sore.

Alcohol is becoming firmly entrenched in my daily diet (~1/day).  I'm not sure this is a battle worth fighting until I am not around my teething, tantrumy darlings around the clock, every day of the week.

hahaha okits, I came to post that I wandered far and wide in a weird circly route today, all with the goal of booze. I almost never drank before my Current Life, and now I'm almost aiming for daily, because it works. But I'm very sensitive to alcohol (probably per drinking so little), so I don't drive for ages after it. This is causing me to walk more!

Okits - there is a lot of research that says it is healthier to drink 1 glass of wine a day than to not.  (That all changes when you are talking about 2 or 3 glasses a day, with women at least). Unfortunately my body doesn't love any quantity of alcohol, so I rarely drink, but if it adds to your quality of life, why not?

I started the 'None to Run' program today (https://www.healthynomics.com/).  Basically a 12 week run/walk program (similar to Couch to 5 K). Thought I would mention it here in case anyone else is interested.
I am not sold on the idea of running, so if I start hurting I will quit and do something else.

Walked 4.1km, 3.2 of them wearing 25lbs of baby + gear.  Note to self: don't gain 25lbs.  Also: achy from yesterday.  Probably a good thing.

Okits - there is a lot of research that says it is healthier to drink 1 glass of wine a day than to not.  (That all changes when you are talking about 2 or 3 glasses a day, with women at least). Unfortunately my body doesn't love any quantity of alcohol, so I rarely drink, but if it adds to your quality of helps you cope with the stress in your life, why not?

I'm going to take this as straight up medical advice.  ;)

Seriously, I was cutting out booze to encourage weight loss.  Alcohol and junk food are coping mechanisms, and I should be finding other ways to cope until my life improves (i.e. I'm working on changes to make it better, they're just not instantaneous.)  Also, I make unhealthy food choices after consuming alcohol.

Lexde - ouch is right!  Hope you feel better fast.

Okits - unfortunately alcohol can definitely encourage crappy food consumption!  But hey, not as bad as pot, right?  (I am all about harm reduction as opposed to abstinence!)

Today for the first time in a few days I got out for a walk. We walked over an hour.
It felt good!
The Sawtooth Mountains are so beautiful.

I feel terrible for not even having done Yoga lately.

Yesterday I walked at least 8 miles spread out at two different times.  The second time bring the longest in the park. I wanted to see where a path was leading. I was exhausted. Even my shoulders hurt.  But surprisingly today, I feel okay.  I am pushing myself because I cant allow any more excuses.

Today was a good day. Started with 45 min of Yoga in the morning and a 2 hour hike in the afternoon.
I have been doing a few things over the last few days as well, but have not been keeping track, due to lack of internet connection.
Can't claim new daily habits though.

Leg day yesterday, finally got back to the full plates on the leg press machine. 75lb squat, 50lb Romanian Deadlift (the 60lb fixed weight bar has apparently been very popular each time I've gone so I haven't had the chance to move up in weight yet, argh). 90lb leg press and calf presses.

I'm reclined on the couch, watching my DH do push ups with his feet elevated on the couch.  (What, that doesn't count?  ;)

Been out of town, visiting family, so walking and chasing kids around but not tracking activity.  Back at it today.  :)

Push day today. I was surprisingly weak today which was weird. Could have been any number of reasons though. 50lb bench, 30-40lb shoulder press (struggled on this a lot today), 20lb tricep skull crushers, 20lb triceps cable extensions, and 5lb lateral raises.

Made a point to go out and walk.  1.8km, which isn't a lot, but it's 1.8km more than yesterday.

Will wait until after Labour Day (when daycare is open again!) to get the food and booze consumption more under control.
