Beat our utility bills costs
« on: December 02, 2017, 11:03:06 AM »
Caveat:  We are a family of two with no pets.

This was for Nov 17

Gas bill $ 27.95 (Oct temps)
Electrical bill $ 56.29
Netflix $9.99
2 cell phones $87.96 (straight talk)
Internet $ 34 (Century Link)
Water and sewer bill $37.40
Garbage $16.50
$270

Home is 1000 sq ft., insulated well, and heater on a timer.

Family of 3, and two cats. Also a 1,000 sq ft house. Not super insulated, still have a lot of drafty spots, and I'm a SAHP. Here are our numbers in monthly terms (most aren't billed monthly though.)

Propane (cooking only): $19.25 (avg over last 12 months)
Fuel oil (heat): $48 (avg over last 12 months, haven't filled the tank yet)
Electric (incl hot water): $59.17
Netflix: $10.09
2 cell phones: $56.75
Internet: $49.95 (Comcast)
Water: $28.73 (septic system)
Trash: $10.42 (dump sticker over 12 mo)

Grand total: $282.36

An interesting exercise. We've lived in this house for 1 year, and this is the first time I've looked at ALL of our utilities at a monthly level.

Excellent.  Who is your cell phone provider and what type of service is it (data, etc.)?

I am wondering if Netflix is going up.  I am on the cheapest plan.  Last month was 9.99.  Wonder if it is going up.

One iPhone on Page Plus($29.75), and one iPhone on H2O Wireless ($27). We'll be moving both to H2O for the better cell service at our house. We used to have Ting and loved it, but we don't get signal where we moved. Our Netflix plan is streaming only-2 screens.

...and we have a new leader in this race.  :)

It's damn cold where I live.  The heater is cranking as I type this.

Oh my gosh, these numbers are so low.  Can it get any lower than $77?  WOW!

Wow, these are some great numbers! I'm not sure if I can beat that... not sure about the property taxes in other countries!

Gas+electric: 59
Water: 10
Internet: 27
Phone: 0 (employer pays)
Sewer/garbage/water+city taxes and property taxes: 70 (yes, this is all in 1 bill.... weird netherlandsy thing)
Netflix: 0 (I have a generous brother who offers to share his account)

Total including property taxes: 166 a month

Edited to add: 3 bedroom house, 1 person, 2 cats

Electric provider+consumtion: 54
Netflix: 10
Phone:  55

Total 119, or 59pp.

From januari it will be 70 for the both of us, since we change one cell plan and employer picks up the other.

Single. Studio apartment in a nice un-mustachian neighborhood.
I sparingly use a space heater currently and a window A/C unit in
the summer.  Electricity averages between $25-35 per month.
Water, trash pickup is included in monthly rent.

November:
  Electricity: $26.74
Internet: $19.99  (I should probably amortize my cost for the modem)
  Mobile Phone: $14.44

Total: $61.17

For the first few months I went without an Internet connection, but finally
succumbed in October for the convenience.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
