5/15 - 16,522 steps
5/16 - 11,567 steps
5/17 - 16,314 steps
5/18 - 11,618 steps
5/19 - 12,963 steps

Hit a new PR on the Mon-Fri fitbit steps challenge and BMI down a little today.  Working to get back in shape enough to run a 5k outside without stopping.  Not there yet but getting better!

5/17: 7k steps
5/18: 15k steps
5/19: 5k steps

I woke up early yesterday to go to breakfast with friends -- in the middle of a thunderstorm no less -- and then napped for like four hours. Apparently I was tired.

I strained something in my shoulder on Friday but I *think* it's okay now?

I'm hoping to get some elliptical in tonight. I need the movement, it'll help clear out the cobwebs I feel gathering in my brain...

5/20 -- 19k steps

I had a very pleasant session on the elliptical yesterday -- just the right amount of peak heart rate, just enough sweat, just enough hard breathing. It felt so nice.

5/22-13,207 not much in the way of steps. My back was killing me. I really need to finish this job and get 2-3 days off so I can get past this thing but its a rock and a hard place because Its hard to finish it when I cant move efficiently. Going back today for hopefully a big chunk so I can be done tomorrow.
Weight was up to 205.4 because simply after working best i could yesterday i came home made dinner, binged ate and binged tv. That I have to stop there is no need.!!

soccerluvof4, I can't remember, doesn't this job have some intense physical labor? If so, extra food is pretty sensible... (though obviously if it made you feel crappy, less pleasant!).

5/21: 14k
5/22: 14k

My legs were so sore from Tuesday's workout that I just walked yesterday instead of doing a Serious Cardio session. This morning was upper body at the gym, which was generally satisfying if not quite where I want to be.

Yea its mulching, spring clean up, planting etc.. So yea I am not really worried about the calories i just want some real cardio to get the cardio up plus I miss the gym. I have about 2 hours today and then I am done with this job so I plan on working out with the holiday Sat, Sun and Monday. My next one is easy peasy just planting so I might go to the gym before and workout since its literally a couple blocks from the Y. Glad your getting your workouts in!! Nice job!

Yesterday I had 25,264 most of it was from working in the morning and then I took my son to soccer practice and walked till I got to 25k around the soccer field.

Well due to monsoon rains I got to the Y and did 90 minutes on the elliptical and then I said the hell with it I went and it took only about an hour and finished that job and that was 90% of my steps. Going to try and get to the Y today. I have 3 days off but 6 hours round-trip each day of traveling for State Cup as both the younger ones are participating in that.

Haven't posted...too busy to log on and no internet at the house...but I have been running. 1-2 times a week. I'm up to 30 minutes of 3 minutes jog and 2 minute walk intervals. Feeling good about progress. Run group meeting is tonight and then we start training next week. Half marathon in the fall. The biggest issues I'm having now is finding time and trail closures due to flooding. It's hard to squeeze in workouts when my favorite places are underwater. I prefer to run on the rails to trails areas as concrete and asphalt make my joints hurt. Hopefully our group leader will have new trails to show us to work around the water...or maybe the weather can settle down to a more reasonable amount of precipitation?

That's great, Mongoose! Yay for running! \o/ I hope your trails dry out soon; I feel much the same about running surfaces. (Is there a local track near you that you could use while it's wet out? Usually track surfaces are a little softer at least.)

5/23: 14k
5/24: 7k
5/25: 13k
5/26: 13k
5/27: 16k

Got an elliptical session in on Saturday, and a nice lower body weightlifting session today. I finally managed to bring my notebook to the gym! I can now actually track my weightlifting volume...

@PowerStache its kinda hit or miss. I will have some big days and others not so much but being Fire'd helps and for the most part I am seemingly on the go! Like today I had a huge day because I was outside doing  a cash job for 8.5 hours but this weekend kinda sucked. congrats on your new record!

I broke the 35k barrier by moving. All that lugging boxes and packing and being on my feet for hours straight.

Totally not the recommended way to break said barrier.

Hahaha I did not break it recently -- that was 2015. I think I've only done 25k barrier since then. ;)

5/28: 15k + lower body weightlifting
5/29: 13k + half an hour on the stationary bike (my legs hurt wah)

Well your still doing alot better than me @diapasoun ! :-)

Yesterday 5/30 6999  This cold is kicking my butt but I feel this morning I finally turned the corner. Next 3 days are going to be interesting as if I can get my numbers up or not as I have a busy weekend but I gotta figure this out. Starting next week things should be back to normal.

Weight 205.2 another concern.

5/30: 18k plus a nice weights workout at the gym
5/31: 10k
6/1: 36k!! (After having not done this in so long, we did a 13 mile hike from the mountains to the sea -- it was brilliant).
6/2: 3k (I figured a lazy day after a hardcore one was ok)

Thanks! Our trails are still wet but my half marathon training group has started. That gives me great access to information and advice on where to run. And running buddies. I'm a bit of a misfit but everyone is congenial so it ends up working well.

Week 1 down: have actually jogged all my mileage plus put in two cross training sessions.

I came down with a cold last Tuesday, and gave blood yesterday, so it's been a week without workouts (getting up for a 6:30a weightlifting session was NOT going to happen, no sirree). I'll take today off from non-walking exercise and try to get my cardio session in tomorrow.

Great progress, PowerStache! 30 minutes jogging without stopping is great exercise. And good for you to getting the time and effort in, Mongoose.

Glad you're feeling better, soccerluvof4. Sour stomachs are no fun.

Low grade fever + stomach stuff is an excellent reason to take the day off. Sounds like a day for water and the RICE diet too... hope it goes away soon.

19k yesterday. Still recovering from the blood donation on Monday for sure -- I felt pretty tired this morning getting up to go walk the dog, and my calves were tight. (Not aided by the heat, either!)

Well that was a good day!! 19k . Sadly I have never given blood though having thought about it many times. I do need to do that.

Yesterday 6/12 I only had 3271 steps and I didnt weigh in this morning. My stomach was pretty bothersome so I called the nurse and she told me to not take pepto that I dont have the symtoms for that but to take Mylanta and that has helped quite a bit. Also to take Abreva for my lip not the orajel I was taking and that too was helping a bit. I have a history of heartburn for about 5 years and the last year take a 20mg tab of omeprazole which basically a version of pepicid that you can take on a regular basis vs just 14 days and havent had a problem since being on it. Well anyhow the doctor called me later in the day and said he would like to see me to make sure I dont have a stomach ulcer based on my symptoms. so we will see . Both the lip and the stomach have improved about 50% in last 24 hours but he said if there is improvement it could be just from masking it with the medication. So I am thinking if it goes completely away then for 24 hours if I dont take anything I might cancel appointment but will see. Probably should get checked out just to make sure not more to it regardless.

Congrats on you folks being more active! Is there room for another?

I started working out (again) in late May, and I set some goals to hit by Labor Day, so it looks like our time frames match up!

May 22: I was 228
June 9: I was 219

Goal is to hit 200 flat by Labor Day.  My strategy is not overly strenuous. I hit the gym for weights twice a week. I take a walk with the family twice a week. I limit diet cokes to like maybe 1 or 2 a week (I used to drink 2-3 a day), I drink a TON of water, I avoid alcohol and sweets, and I eat fewer calories period, focusing on high nutrient foods with no empty calories. I might also throw in at least a few days of 16:8 intermittent fasting here and there.

I used to try to focus on exercise, but I think the smarter way to focus is on caloric intake. I watched a youtube video breaking down how much easier it is to lower calories (than it is to count on burning calories to help you)

Basically, most of the benefits of a five mile run can be undone by 2 large slices of pizza.

Basically, most of the benefits of a five mile run can be undone by 2 large slices of pizza.

Welcome , Welcome @Nick_Miller sounds like you have some good attainable goals!! and your right on the caloric intake!

Welcome, Nick_Miller!

I think I'm finally recovered enough from cold + blood donation to do some non-walking exercise. I may start with yoga, as the gym has super wonky hours next week (uni gym + beginning of summer = chaos hours).

Almost went a whole week making my step goal...darn kids and their end of the school year ceremonies.  Really slacked on jogging this week, but I went today.  My oldest is training to try out for high school soccer so that will help motivate me to get out when he trains.

Also, BMI went from 29.7 to 29.3.  Hoping it stays there.

Happy Father's Day to the dads!

Bottom line till next week unless my hotel tomorrow through sunday has a gym I doubt I will be doing much. But I should get at least 15k steps a day when I travel no excuse for that.

Oh hey waht even is posting.

6/17-6/23: 134k
6/24: 10k

Have been dealing with some lingering foot pain from last year that sprung up again after walking a long ways in relatively new (been wearing every day for three weeks) shoes. They're high quality shoes that are actually often recommended for orthopedic problems, so not entirely sure what's up with them. I'm switching back to my tried-and-true sneaks for the week, though.

I hear ya! I have 3 pairs of shoes now and the more I swap them out thee less my feet hurt. Seem like I have to wear the newest ones simply for exercise as well to get the least pain/soreness.
