What happened to my tax return?

I filed my taxes the first week of April (I mailed it).  I'm supposed to get a small refund.  I've checked the status of my refund on the IRS page and it says that they don't have any information about my taxes.  Is it normal?  Should I be concerned?

Most processing offices have been closed because of COVID.  Paper returns are severely backlogged.  The offices are just reopening, and it's going to take time to catch up.

I also filed first week of April, but electronically, so I assumed I'd get my return within a month.

Instead, months went by and the IRS webpage had no info and I was also starting to worry. Then a few days ago my refund showed up in my bank account. I think they are just super-back-logged and I suspect they also aren't updating the "Where's my refund?" page until practically the day the refund is sent.

It must be a bit anxiety inducing (what isn’t these days), but you should be just fine.

Are they backlogged on sending bills and notices as well?

I went to the IRS website on some unrelated business, and while I was there I noticed that I had an amount due from 2018.  No explanation, and I never received any notice in the mail.  I called them to see what it was for, and they could only say that their computers were down. 

I was advised to pay the amount to stop interest from accumulating, and then sort it out later.  But I'm not sure when "later" is, or at what point I need to start inquiring further.

I delivered my quarterly to the post office on the July 15th, here is is the 26th and my check still hasn't been deducted from my checking account.
Now, I'm concerned!

I mailed mine on 3/15/20 and have heard nothing.  I'm expecting a refund, but the IRS website has no clue what's going on with my forms.

I was thinking about copying them and sending them again, but that might cause more problems than it solves.

So I guess I'll sit down and wait patiently.

I think we are all in the same boat. I'm just going to wait and see what happens.

Wow, we filed on July 14th and received our refund before you did. Oh, wait. We had to pay the feds and the refund came from the state. Nevermind.
