What version?  It looks like an online-only edition, but I'm uncertain on the Fed/State filing costs with this offer.

Thanks! I paid $30.98 at the beginning of the month (still totally worth it IMO), but I gave it a shot and called in and they gave me a $20 credit, so I'll only end up paying $0.98 more than this deal. Not bad for a few minutes on the phone.

It includes Fed and State.

How does TaxAct compare to TurboTax? I like TurboTax because it's pretty idiot-proof and they provide lots of information around why they're asking for certain things. I just want to put in all my numbers without having to think about anything (or as little as possible, at least).

I think you will find it is similar.  I have never used TurboTax but I used to use H&R Block's product.  They are all very similar in walking you through it.

I'm not impressed. Their "PDF Importer" has been "down for maintenance" since this offer came out. And the website has been quite slow for me - even during times which should be low demand.

Edit: Okay, it's a browser issue. I was misdirected by the error warning. Importing in Chrome worked fine, problem was in Firefox.

Thanks for the link. I paid $40 for premium (fed+state), sent a request yesterday, and they replied that they refunded $30

I signed up via the link, did my taxes, and saw that it was charging me full price. Hm.

Today I called TaxAct and told them I'd signed up under the promo. They refunded me the difference, no questions asked.
