Side hustle when to do taxes
« on: April 06, 2018, 08:42:21 PM »
Wondering when I should start doing taxes for my side hustle? I’m not making to much from it, maybe 2,000 a year and the advice I’ve gotten from people in person is that it’s not worth doing taxes on it yet even though there’s a bunch of things I could be writing off as part of business expenses. ps I live in California, thanks for the advice

You're supposed to report any an all income you make. Doing anything else is tax evasion.

If you have a net profit over $400 you should be paying self employment tax.

Agreed. I wouldn't be posting on a public forum about potential tax evasion.  Good luck!

"Doing" taxes isn't optional. You must report all income from all sources. Even if you haven't in the past, start now -- tax year 2017.
