Missed 1099-INT when filing taxes
« on: February 13, 2017, 09:00:37 AM »
Just filed my taxes last night online through H&R Block. However, I just today realized I completely forgot to include a 1099-INT from one of my bank accounts (Insert facepalm here). The interest income was only about $70, will I need to file an amendment for this? Is this a difficult process? Thanks!

This was addressed with a similar situation (link below).  The general advise is to wait and see if the IRS reaches out to you you since the time and hassle of filing the 1040X likely outweighs the risk of having to pay taxes and penalties.  If you want to be above board, you can mail the 1040X after the end of the tax season.  I believe most tax software will walk you through the process.
