Inexpensive Tax Software including Schedule C?
« on: December 28, 2015, 10:52:23 AM »
Looking for the best price on tax software which can handle the small side gig MrsTX started late 2015, with similarly small business deductions (mileage, small home office deduction, phone.) Side gig income was just over $400.

I have on my desk H&R Block "Deluxe" which came in the mail for $9.95, but the comparison guide is unclear whether I need Premium to have Schedule C, or just get the "Maximize Deductions" for Schedule C by going Premium. I don't need to "maximize deductions", as the easy deductions are already more than the income.

Heck, now that I think about it, would be easy to have significantly more deductions than income. Simplified home office, even at 100 square feet x $5 = $500. Mileage. Part of phone service/internet, part of new phone cost.

I used turbo tax and it let me report my income and my deductions for my self employment for free.

According to the Amazon page, H&R Block Deluxe does include Schedule C. Since that will only cost me $10 with the disc they sent in the mail, I plan on using it. Saved me from being tricked into getting Premium for "advanced Schedule C support"

Free Fillable Forms - they're free, and yes, you can file Schedule C.  FFF will be available on the IRS website beginning on January 15.
