Will employee health premiums still be pretax in 2018?
« on: December 14, 2017, 11:24:54 AM »
I've looked everywhere and can't find this specific question addressed:

Will employee contributions to health insurance premiums still be pretax in the proposed GOP tax bill?

I have the option of getting a higher premium plan through my spouse or a lower premium plan through healthcare.gov. Since, I won't be working next year, the higher premium plan will actually be lower in after-tax dollars if employee contributions continue to be pretax. Would appreciate any help. There's $1k on the line for me. Thanks!

Haven't heard that anything will differ from status quo in this particular area, but I'm not privy to the congressional negotiations.  One might say it's "likely but by no means guaranteed" that things will remain as is.
