Not sure how I didn't know about this before, but... I just learned today that summer camps-including sports camps- my kids attended while we were working this past summer qualify for dependent care tax credits. Am I the only one who didn't know about this? In previous years I knew daycare cost could be deducted but didn't know about summer camps. Just saved myself $350 in taxes.

That's awesome.  Definitely came in handy for us last year.

I've been looking into this credit for this year, did you guys find any reference to how much the spouse needs to be working for this credit?

It definitely is a good benefit to have if you are paying dependent care.

Heroes821,  I have never found anything stating how much you need to be working.  From IRS Pub 503 you must have an earned income and then the qualified expenses in calculating the credit cannot be less than the smaller of your earned income or your spouse's earned income. So as long as your spouse has an earned income of more than $3,000 ($6,000 if more than one dependent) then you should not have any issues.

Oh cool good to know. I will read through that link.  My wife is pregnant and can't stop being sick (hyper-misis?) so she'll be out of work most of the year.  I'll have to look into that.
