Just started making my oatmeal like this: One-fourth cup Aldi's rolled oats. One-fourth cup nuts of the day--usually walnuts, sometimes almonds. One-half cup unsweetened almond milk, plain or vanilla. Dump in bowl and microwave for one minute, 30 seconds. I have this after my daily cup of coffee, while I'm checking the weather and headlines.

Homemade bircher muesli (by DH, not by me). Rolled oats, grated green apple, homegrown strawberries sliced into smaller pieces, sliced banana, natural yoghurt and a bit of skim milk. YUM!

Haven't mustered my FIRE'd self out of this snuggly warm bed yet*, but when I do, it's going to be my Canadian favorite, Red River Cereal, with a touch of butter and maple syrup. I love this stuff, but have to order it on line. I was so surprised to see it's actually made in the US. Who knows the scoop on that?

*This is a lie. I get up at 4:45am, make DH's breakfast, pack his lunch, walk him to work, then come home and crawl back into bed at about 6:10 am, where I hibernate and sleep/read  until MIL stirs. So glad she's not an early bird.

Hi, breakfast gang.  Felt very healthy today with oatmeal and raisins (thick rolled organic oats, they have a taste), almonds, freshly chopped broccoli and carrots.

I am thrilled that I made a double batch of Red River yesterday. That shit takes forever to cook and reheats beautifully. Yay for easy-button breakfasts.

A cup of steel cut oats (cooked with pumpkin pie spice) with a cup of puréed pumpkin. Had to add some sugar because I am weak.

Husband was given four very large pumpkins (66 lbs total!) by a customer the other day, so we have a lot of pumpkin purée to get through. This made a fairly good breakfast, so should be able to use some up this way over the winter, along with using in baking and soups.

40g of ALDI brand All Bran, ALDI UHT skim milk (because it's cheap and convenient), dollop of Halal plain yoghurt (because it's even cheaper than ALDI yoghurt), half a sliced banana, some chopped up homegrown strawberries and a little bit of golden syrup. Yum! And very high fibre.

Plus a mug of coffee (instant coffee with low fat milk).



Oatmeal with 1/2 stick of butter, splash of heavy cream, whey protein powder, creatine, 1tsp honey, small handful of blueberries. Plus a big glass of milk, followed later by bulletproof coffee.

How many grams is 1/2 a stick of butter? (I'm curious but don't know whether a stick of butter is equivalent to our 250g butter)

Oatmeal with peanut butter mixed in used to be my default breakfast, though I changed my diet to treat my GERD without medication.

Well, I'm sort of cheating because I'm Australian, so no. But I was surprised about bear as well. Apparently it can be terrible meat if the bear has been living too close to humans, because its diet consists of trash. But in the wild they eat blueberries and other nice things, so that meat is good. I couldn't really tell if this was a trash-bear or a blueberry-bear as it was cooked in quite a heavy sauce. But it was good!

At work - scrambled eggs, a slice of bacon, & a side salad made with romaine, dried cherries, poppy seeds & some sort of citrus dressing. (Meals are free at work, so no mustachian "soldiers" were killed in the consumption of this breakfast)

For two years I ate one scrambled egg with some canned sliced beets.... I don't know why I just loved beets and ate them every day.

Then, about a year and a half ago, I just got over it and decided not to eat beets any more. My breakfast varies from day to day now. Today I had a chia pudding with some frozen fruit.

Swapped my breakfast out for a quicker version which still hits all of my bases.

Cook 2 eggs quickly in butter, which will be my protein and fat and mostly serve to fill you up.

For the main nutrients I'll take a large chunk of broccoli, a small bowl of frozen strawberries and 4 cups of milk and make a smoothie.

Totals at under 15 minutes with cleaning, and if your in a rush and skipping cleaning you can get it done in under 10 and take the smoothie to go.
