So I am attending a work function later this year at a nice location and each time she says she should go with me but it has never worked out.
I earned my companion pass this year and it occurred to me that if my work would book me on Southwest I might be able to get a ticket for my wife using the companion pass.
Put in my flight request at work and they booked me on the flights I requested with Southwest.
Logged into Southwest and the flight was listed under my account... The magic little add companion link was right there so I selected the add companion and BAM she has a ticket on the same flight as me for free minus a few small fees.
I wish I knew about this back in the day when I was traveling 2 weeks a month she could have gone so many places with me for free.
Flying in on a Saturday and out the following Sunday working Monday - Thursday so we get to spend a few days doing fun stuff together then she gets some days to explore the area and relax.
Not bad getting free flights, per diem, car and a stay at the intercontinental hotel for just the mandatory fees and 2 days of hotel charges.
Anyhow just thought I would mention it since it might work for other people even if their work books the flight they could add a companion.
Off to see if I can find some training or conferences for this and next year since we are allowed 2 per year :)
