For context, Vancouver has a small but very vocal "social justice/anti-poverty" movement whose existence depends on people handling money in an anti-mustachian way - literally every publication, pamphlet, march, or speech these guys do centers around how it's impossible to get by in Vancouver below a certain income, minimum wage needs to be $20/hr, etc etc. The second people start living badass-style, these groups lose all relevance - so anytime something like this article gets published, they essentially have to come up with arguments of why this stuff is impossible, no matter how far fetched, to justify their continued existence/support/funding.
We tend to clash with this group a lot on completely unrelated stuff due to some pretty different ideologies as a whole, so we're very used to their style of reasoning - it's pretty distinct.
