My husband (34) and I (32) hit $500k in investments as of 7/31/16. $375k is tax deferred and $125k is in taxable accounts. I thought I'd share here since we can't really tell anyone! Both of us found it to be rather anticlimactic :). Now we have our eye on $1M in investments. We have no debt other than our $140k mortgage. We have equity in our house of about $200k so total net worth of about $700k. We've been saving about $80k a year for the past 5 years....except for last year..we had twins and were down $1k in 2015.

Awesome--congrats!!
-
Congratulations!
I just hit that milestone a couple of months ago (and I'm significantly older than you both).
Feels great, doesn't it?
What's funny is in just a couple of months you'll be looking at it and wondering how long it'll take you to add another comma.
Keep it up.

Good for you, this is a great milestone!
-
If you don't go crazy on spending for the kid you should easily hit 1 mil before 40! Awesome job, you'll see there's a thread here for people that started making changes and saving after 40. I started last year at 37, you guys are rocking it!
-
Congrats! It's the next big milestone on my list as well. The next 500k will be much easier... :-)
-
Thanks all! We're going out for dinner on Friday for our anniversary and to celebrate this milestone. Cheers to 5 years and $500,000! If only I could post that on Facebook. Ha ha ha.

You could not put away another penny and your investments alone would take you to millionaire status in 9-10 years! Awesome job guys.
-
I bet that feels amazing! I've got about 8 years until I hit that myself and I'll be 34 in a couple weeks. Inspirational, though!
-
Badass, congratulations!
Congratulations on the twins as well. $2k tax credit, yeah!
-
Awesome. We just hit that recently, too.
-
You are well over half way to 1m!
Half way is something like 330k...(assuming the money is invested in the market)

Wow. You guys are going to be golden. Keep it up. Good luck with the twins!!

Wow very impressive and congratulations to both the investments and of course the twins!
Cheers

The $2k tax credit and $1,200 childcare tax credit only put a small dent in what those little guys cost (they're worth it!).

Well done, congrats - I hope to be there one day :)
-
Congratulations COlady and husband! Thats awesome!
-
BAM!
-
Congrats! Nice work. We are in a similar situation (just one child though) and just did the same! 1,000,000 is our next goal too.
-
Inspirational! super!
-
Awesome job and congrats to you both--and happy belated anniversary!
-
We just hit $600k assets invested on 2/28/17. $100k growth between contributions and market appreciation in just 7 months! Woohoo!
I can't tell anyone else in real life about this....
-
That's awesome!

Awesome!

Is this a realistic expectation?

$895,000 from $500k at 6% for ten years, no additions. Hmmm.... This thing does work, eh?!?
Congrats btw!

983, 575 at 7% percent though.

Frigging awesome. We should hit $500k NW this year, but that's including our house.
-
We're right at $300k invested and what's crazy is that often times it will go up (or down) more in a day than I can save/contribute in a month! That's just amazing to me.
