Turned up temperature, saved $
« on: August 19, 2013, 01:04:20 PM »
Last month I decided to set our thermostat to 82*F rather than our standard 80. My electric bill was $35 lower this month! This month we are hanging all pf our laundry, I look forward to seeing the savings there.
I live in the philly burbs, it is not uncommon for summer temps to be 90*F with 100% humidity.

Sounds like you can handle the heat!  I can take low 80's with reasonable humidity, but once the dew point gets into the 70's, my brain fries...

Nice move, Frugalady10!  Did you notice the two degree difference?

Yeah, I was a little hot so I just went around in a tank top and shorts.. 82 feels pretty good compared to 90. You really do get used to it.

Good job! I'm in south Louisiana, we keep the thermostat at 82, and some days it actually feels chilly inside. It made a HUGE impact on our electricity bill.
