To new beginnings!
« on: March 11, 2014, 04:18:33 PM »
After much logistics calculating yesterday, I finally made my commute with a combination of bike and bus.  It costs me $4.20/day.  The same drive costs me $8.10.  In CT, I'm not sure this can be year-long, but if I can start in March, I can make it til Nov.

So, today I:
• Got a great workout in the morning
• Saved a few miles on the car
• Saved HALF of the money I would've spent driving
• Was greener
• Supported mass transit in my area
• Felt badass!

Excuse me... It costs me $3.  I forgot that the bus drivers corrected the info I dug up yesterday on pricing.  All the better!

Badass! That will save you about $1,000 per year.

Awesome! Spring and fall are my favorite times for riding, so perfect time to start. Now the sky is the limit!

Do you end up sweating a lot while riding the bike?  I've thought about doing a similar thing, but we don't have showers where I work.

Good question!  I don't have a shower at my business, so we'll see what I come up with as it gets hotter.  As a musician, I lived on the road, mostly in vans, for quite a while, and am fairly skilled at "sink showers," like this friendly young lady.  :)
