Sold Stuff, 'Found' Cash
« on: January 22, 2015, 09:07:41 PM »
My husband and I have been faithfully (obsessively?) reading MMM for the last six months or so, but I'm finally hopping onto the forums. We're trying to reign in our consumer-sucka ways and live with only what we need to save more. In the last few months we've tried to sell every possession we don't use on a regular basis and have 'found' nearly $8K in STUFF that we haven't missed. The biggest item (about 40% of our total so far) was the car clogging up the driveway (since we now bike, walk, or car-share everywhere!) but we are shocked at how much we've made selling our clutter. Tooting our own horns, and also hoping to encourage those sitting on extra possessions - reading decluttering threads in the 'Throw Down the Gauntlet' section has been inspiring!

In our (Canadian) city the local usedeverywhere page seems to be far more active (and less sketchy?) than the Craigslist site. But your mileage may vary - it is definitely a Craigslist equivalent and we haven't dealt with ebay or anything.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
