My son had a sleepover last night. Instead of heading out to get donuts this morning, I made up some waffle batter and pulled out the waffle iron. The boys did “make your own waffles”, and they’ve been enjoying cooking these things up for over an hour. Cost = $0. Kid fun = Priceless.

Erm, the cost wasn't exactly zero, unless the waffle iron and the electricity to run it were free...
A little google-fu will reveal other kid-friendly magic tricks your trusty waffle iron can do.

I never get those people that buy pancake mix for like 8 or 9 dollars! (my wife used to be one)

Not only it's super expensive but it doens't save any time at all since you still have to mix it ... and you have to store it and it just serves the purpose of pancakes.

Much better to have flour, some milk an egg and there you go... in 30 seconds you can have pancakes and/or waffes and or crepes !

Same with me, MrSal.  We make pancakes every Sunday morning.  Good and cheap with just eggs, milk, flour and baking powder.  Why anyone would buy a pancake mix really baffles me.
