My friend is coming over today for football, so I might be able to get more information today. From what I know so far, she was part of a union. Due to union regulations, the former employer claims that they are not allowed to change the details of a position while it is occupied. However, they can change the details of a position while it is unoccupied.
After she quit it seems like they tried to get someone internal to do her old job. Based on what I know right now it has been a failure. After about 2 weeks they started calling her for advice on how to do her old job.
About 5 days ago they also re-posted her job at 4 days/week and told her to apply. I think they are required to interview other candidates, but it's her job. I think she goes back to work officially in about 2 weeks.
My overall point is that I am very proud of my friend for sticking up for herself. She called their bluff and she won. In reference to 'The Financial Samurai" employers need employees just as much as employees need employers. The economy is doing well. If you are a skilled employee, know your value and leverage it into something that you desire.
