Very quietly - you can bank on your accounts going over and under that mark for a while before being solidly over.  My GF went over in January for a week, went under, over, then under for a solid 3 months.  She is now $50k over and even now I am not totally sold on the amount staying over permanently.

It's been well over a year for me.  I don't plan to celebrate until I FIRE (or at least switch to part time).

True this! Using a 6 or 12 month average smooths things out a little and makes it more realistic.

We celebrated hitting 1 million invested with discounted ribeye steaks grilled at home :)

I have been trying hard to hit 1.2 million in investments (not including house) and finally reached that recently.  Didn't celebrate at all except to highlight that number in bright green in my spreadsheet :)  and start to really think hard about how to give away a bunch of money.  It's accumulating so fast, it's truly astounding.

Congrats!

It is amazing how it grows exponentially as it gets larger.

I'm going to celebrate by buying the LARGE shrimp ring with the cocktail sauce at Costco for the family next time we go grocery shopping! Crossed over a million for the first time today!

Yep this is right. Investment returns start to overwhelm any impact your contributions make. Truly is astonishing, even if you intuitively understand the maths.

Yeah what I'd give for a 2013 next year in the markets.  To see 1MM grow by almost 400k would be nuts. I'd also take a 2008 since we're still growing our stache.
