We are having a really productive day. Woke up, painted the walls of the room we skim coated ourselves (and I don't mind saying they look fab-u-lous!). We then sold our 2nd car that has been sitting essentially unused in the driveway for months. After we sealed the deal with the buyer we stopped in at the salvation army and found a really nice 10 speed road bike for my husband for under $20! SCORE! That will become his new commuter bike! Now I am researching how to build a solar hot water system to get our electric bills down. Our state has the 2nd highest rates in the US :( but damn it, we are lowering that bill!

Wow, that is awesome!  Congrats on having the courage to sell the 2nd car.  Please keep us updated on your progress with the solar water heater -- that sounds like a very interesting project!  I'd like to have a solar water heater myself some day.  Anything to rely less on monetary income, while reducing one's impact on the environment, is a HUGELY good thing.

Wow! That's a pretty nice little Saturday!!

We sold our 2nd car when we moved for me to attend grad school (I can walk to school right now) so our goal is to avoid buying a 2nd car once I graduate and get a job! It's nice because we'll be choosing our housing with this in mind, as opposed to trying to make changes while owning a house or otherwise having an unflexible lifestyle.
