Thanks for indulging me for a second. This is one of the few places I feel like sharing this won't just sound like stuck-up bragging:
It took 8 years, but as of today I've now (more than) doubled my base salary since starting my career. While not the highest percentage raise I've ever gotten, today was also tied for the largest raise in pure dollars I've ever gotten.
Interestingly, a couple of years ago I switched companies, and at the time took a (small) pay cut, because it was offset by a lot of quality-of-life improvements. As I learned pretty quickly, that was more than offset at new company by bonuses right away, but now I can also pretty safely say if I'd stayed with old company there's no way I'd be making what I am today.
I hope not to double my salary again before FIRE, but I guess we'll see. And thanks to MMM, I'm happy to report my spending has risen only a small fraction as much in the same time period, if at all.
