Hi All,
Like many I've been a lurker for a while but took great inspiration from some of the users on here. I made some drastic changes in the past 3-4 months after getting engaged and realising although I had a good job and reasonable salary for my age I wanted more and to cut back to help me achieve it.
In the past 3 months I have done the following:
- Started my own consultancy business and completed first contract, just started second which has doubled my take home pay from 4 months ago
- Sold my car for a cheaper car, this is currently costing 28p per mile to run (inc. parts/depreciation), offset by 45p per mile business mileage making the car cost 2p/mile to run at this moment in time! (soon to be profitable!)
- Reduced debt by £2k/$3k
- Increased net worth by £7k/$10.5k (£5k 'Warchest')
- Reduced mobile phone bill
- Stopped worrying about others thinking I'm being a miser and should spend more!
I still have plenty to do but long may it continue, I'm hoping to be debt free by 2017 whilst also paying for a wedding in 2016 without borrowing a penny! I am at 2/3rd's of the target for our wedding but once thats reached I can really hammer the debts :)
Thanks for all the contributions to this forum, it has been very valuable.
