Mr. Fixit

Living in Denver, we got hit with an Arctic blast this week. First do it yourself was blowing out the sprinklers. I've done this for years, so it was no big deal, but nice to be able to do myself while everyone else was scrambling to get someone out to do theirs. Then when the cold actually hit, our furnace conked out. I called the furnace guy, but got impatient and sunny an hour watching YouTube videos and trying various things until I found the winner. (A problem with a pressure switch hose.)

A nice thing about being able to do some of these things, in addition to the financial savings, is the ability to get them done when nobody is available.

Added to it over the weekend.  Replaced the satellite antenna on our clown car SUV.  $100 in parts from Amazon, probably a $500 job at the dealer.  Definitely a pain in the ass that required watching multiple videos on YouTube and looking at parts diagrams to see how things are actually attached. (Dealing with the headliner is the big issue.)

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
