Had to brag a little in a place with people who would truly appreciate this! This morning, I made my final loan payment on the $72K of loans that have been following me around since graduate school.
I want to say THANK YOU to Mr. MM, his blog, and this forum. It took me 20 months to pay off my loans, and the reason it happened that quickly was finding these articles and this discussion site. I didn't discover MMM until about 12 months into my debt journey - if I'd found it earlier, I think I could have shaved 4-5 months off my payback time. While I've primarily been a lurker, the tales of y'alls badassity have helped drive me forward on this journey.
Stoked that, as of today, I have a positive net worth and can now go forth and put my money towards not paying off past decisions, but working to build the future I want!

Congrats! Made my final payment earlier this year (August). Enjoy the contentment and freedom that comes with a positive net worth and zero debt obligations. Now you can apply all you have learned to get yourself further into the green. :)

Top stuff... $72k in less than 2 years is amazing :)

That's awesome! Good for you!
You were obviously making huge payments to pay it off so quickly. Now you just have to figure out what to do with all that extra cash flow. You have my sympathies. ;)

Congrats, that has to be an amazing feeling! I hate my student loans, even though they've been shrinking down to less than 1/3 of what they were at their biggest. I hope to some day make a similar post.
Keep that passion up to build the FI life you want!

Congratulations! That's an awesome feeling that deserves a toast or celebration with like minded folks. That kind of "social reward" helps keep the ball rolling and shows you there's plenty of like minded folks out there.
One thing to avoid: If-I'd-only-itis. No looking back! No moping! You're on the path and you've got HUNDREDS of people who are proud of you and excited for you. Awesome job!

Wow, paying off $72k in two years is incredible! Congratulations! I had $74k and now I'm down to about $47k, but I'm taking it a little more slowly. Did you save for retirement at the same time?
