Followed this crock pot recipe.

Super easy and yummy yogurt!  Any other yogurt makers out there?

DW makes it sometimes, buys it sometimes.  When she strains the yogurt, she saves the whey and keeps it as a starter for pickles/kraut.

I used to make yogurt for my DH using a similar method, but without the powdered milk.  He refused to eat it because it was runny.  I refused to strain out the whey because it is a healthy food.  Now we just spend a crap ton on greek yogurt cups for him.  Also, it wasn't very cheap for us as milk runs right under $5 a gallon, and closer to $7 in the smaller sizes.

Do I need a "crockpot" or is a pot enough? My mother in law mentioned something similar (though without powdered  milk, too) and I've wanted to try this forever.

I make mine by boiling the milk on the stove, then letting the milk cool to around 105 deg F.  After that, stir in a plain yogurt with live culture.  Then cover the pot with a lid and wrap it in blankets or towels.  Let it sit in a warm spot for 24 hours.
