LPT: don't throw away mail from Nielsen

There is a small amount of cash in the envelope.  I filled out their survey and may be eligible for another survey program that pays $15/month for 1 year

I'm glad you put this out.  I received something from them about a year ago and just ripped the envelope in half without even opening it.  Two halves of one dollar bill fell from the envelope and I had to tape it up, but I'm glad I didn't throw it away.

I think I was able to complete the short survey online and the next mail from them had a five dollar bill inside.

I wouldn't be surprized that this worked really well for them. They've been doing this for years, and when they started, they were sending fives.

I've been paid by Nielsen to do their survey.  I think it was worth it.

I have an apartment where I receive only junk mail addressed to 'current resident'. I don't give this address to anyone and I don't have any utility bills.

When I spotted the 'curent resident' envelope from Nielsen I was intrigued so I went ahead and opened it. There was a dollar bill inside and a pretty compelling pitch to participate. I thought that the compensation - $26 total for me IIRC - was reasonable for the time spent logging radio listening habbits.

I was a bit worried that after I did the survey I would start receiving junk mail in my name, but that hasn't happened. They included a 'we won't give anyone your contact information' message and I believe that they've been true to this. I did the survey 1.5 years ago and have yet to get junk mail in my name.

Also of interest: I just got a National Institute of Health survey with a tobacco use survey in it that included a $2 bill

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
