Nice! We're in for the long haul on DW's grad school loans. We were able to consolidate about 2/3 of them right after graduation into a 1.625% fixed rate, with a payoff around 25 years, and haven't paid an extra dime. The other 1/3 (variable interest rate, starting off at a very high rate) we did accelerate and paid off in about 3 years.
As for the house...meh. If I get my way, we won't actually pay it off until we sell to move to a lower COLA at FIRE, at which point I hope to use the equity to purchase our new house outright. TBD if that's doable; accelerating payments somewhat but putting the bulk of our excess savings toward investments to ensure that we'll have the 5-year Roth IRA bridge sufficiently funded.
