Last mortgage payment!
« on: August 05, 2014, 11:20:38 AM »
Last week we wired our last mortgage payment!  We are now officially debt free!  We bought this house four years ago with the idea that we would pay it off as quickly as possible, so we paid it off in just four years.  :-)

Do you have kids? I allways wonder how people juggle buying a cheap house but still be in a area with good schools.

Congrats! Paid ours off last winter and it was one of the best feelings ever...  we 'celebrated' by having cheap wine by the fire pit while we burned (a copy of) the payoff note... and spent the evening talking about how our neighbors would be shocked to know we'd paid it off in 8 years :)

Wow! Great job! I did the same in 2012. It changed my outlook on life. I was able to do so much more-- and take so many more risks-- because I wasn't concerned about paying the bills. The first thing I did was take a vacation to Aruba! Don't forget to treat yourself... You have done something most people will never do.

I paid off my mortgage last year.  It produced an incredibly powerful sense of freedom.  No debt!

The funny thing was that I had not even discovered this group and was not even thinking about RE yet.

Thanks everyone!

Mike, I treated myself by retiring two months ago.  ;-)  I haven't been posting much lately because I'm so busy in retirement.  I've heard it said before, and it's very true:  I'm so busy now I don't now how I ever had time to work!
