Graphic designer for 10+ years and just published my first class on adobe illustrator! I just got my approval for my first class on Udemy, it's now live! Skillshare has been somewhat a dud so far. They rely so much on self promotion. Udemy is bigger (6 times bigger) and hopefully I can get more traction naturally. Gotta start somewhere! Even if I make nothing, I can say I am trying to do something to increase my net worth and teach the world something in return. Link is my side hustle #2 in my signature.

I will post results here is anything significant happens. Teaching online is such a huge learning curve. If anything, I will learn lessons on how to make the next class more sellable.

Interesting. I don't know much about either of these sites, so i'm surious to see if this works out for you.

Consider putting short videos or even clips from your larger course on Youtube, with instructions on how to access the full course on Udemy or skillshare. People search for this "how to" stuff all the time and it would be the cheapest form of advertising you could do. Not just free, but your youtube videos can actually make money too. And if the viewers like your teaching style they would most likely be interested in an entire course on the subject, instead of looking up 50 different youtube videos.

Can't hurt anyway. Good luck.

You inspire all the lazy people out there to get off their couch and do something.  How long did it take you to create that course?

only 1 hour to plan, 2 hours to record, 1 hour to make promo video, 3 hours to set it up on Udemy. more time is going into promoting it. A LOT more time. That is where the true time waster is. It is tough out there.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
