Interest rate reduction for my mortgage :)

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and felt I had to share that my bank has knocked 1% off my loan just because I rang and asked about exit fees today :D  I'm not a negotiator, so I genuinely was just calling to find out how much it would cost me to move to another bank for a lower rate, and instead they matched it!  So I've saved myself a bunch of paperwork as well as money.

That's awesome! That adds up to some serious $$ over a few years.

I once "recast" a mortgage with Wells Fargo from 30 to 15 years with a drop in interest of 1% or more.  We had to sign a couple of papers, but it was painless and fee-free.

Great feeling to save money without raising a finger.  :)
