Had one of the most fun conversations Saturday evening. A long time friend of mine asked me about retiring and wondered how she herself was doing financially?
So with an open mind she came over for dinner and we hit the "books" (detailed Excel spreadsheets in this case) for almost 3 hours. She was kinda worried looking at her portfolio because of past mistakes but she had done one of the smartest things you can do.. I.e invest fairly aggressively, forget about it for a long time and keep investing more.
I suggested a few things and this week she is paying off her house!
In about 9 years (based on 8% growth) she will be well positioned to retire.
It was so cool to have somebody get totally hooked on the idea of FI and walk straight out the door with a plan to get there.
Simply awesome to see the transformation.
Oh yes I pointed her to the MMM site too so we'll see if she finds this post..:)
