Congrats! I work in the publishing industry, and I've noticed that people are way more impressed by being published in print vs online, even if the website you're on gets 100x more readers than the magazine or newspaper you're in. So it's pretty exciting to make the leap from a blog to magazine :-)
Yup! I'm a lot more impressed with a print magazine than with the few hackaday and Make Magazine blog articles I've had written about me. Plus, I got to actually, you know,
write this one, instead of having someone else sort of handwave at blog posts and then link to it. It's still fun getting a huge surge in traffic from another site covering my projects, but I'm a lot happier with the print article.
I've been working on writing as both an excuse to learn to write better, and as a possible path to not needing a dayjob (my blog current pays for beer - $20-$40/mo most months, but I intend to continue it for a while and see what happens). I'm also working on turning some of my posts into ebooks. Slowly, but... I'll try. As I have time.
And that's ignoring the significant cash and product flow I get from my blog serving as my free advertising (battery pack analysis and rebuilds). :)
