I just booked an almost free trip to the Bahamas using points !

I used 200,000 marriott points to stay at the Atlantis resort on paradise island, and I used 92,000 barclaycard points for the airline tickets. I love credit card churning !

Still got hard time to understand how to make the best out of them.
I believe the best way is to buy your tickets and then use your miles against the upgrade. I'm speaking for international travels

this is my understanding as well. This works out best value per point, but I dont like using points on upgrades unless the flight is over 6 hours, under that and I dont mind staying in economy

We've been hacking for years.  In general we still spend un-mustachian sums on our trips, but are out of pocket 50 - 60% less than we would be w/o the points gaming.
