The old pump was pulling 1840 watts ~11 hours a day (something like
this). I installed a
new one (which also has a $100 rebate from my power company). It's variable up to 3000rpm, but I only need 1700rpm for my vacuum to work properly. This is indicating 232 watts of power use (which will probably be 4-5 hours a day during summer). Add another 7 hours at 900rpm (62 watts) and I'm consuming ~1.6kWh daily - compared to a previous
~20kWh.$701 for the pump after tax, minus $100 rebate, plus $57 in Home Depot runs for new PVC/etc. This project will pay for itself in a year!
Part of me wants to Craigslist the old pump for a few bucks, but nobody should be using these things!
