Husband just gave notice to be a SAHD
« on: July 01, 2019, 12:17:30 PM »
My husband and I are expecting this fall and he just gave notice to his employer today that he will be leaving the workforce to care for our kiddo as a stay at home dad. No way we would be able to make that leap if we weren't already paying attention to expenses and cutting back to only the things that we find important.  Dropping to one income is uncomfortable because it goes against the grain of what is common and expected, but we feel good about it!

Fantastic! Congrats on the decision and being in a comfortable financial spot that allows your family to do this. I hope it goes well.

My concern is that he will reach the end of his life and look back with regret at all those years he didn't spend all day at work. The most common deathbed refrain is probably "I wish I would have spent less time with my family."

Or not.

Thanks everyone! It is important to us to bring one parent home and we couldn't be happier that it's actually happening. I'd love to come home now too, but we haven't reached that level yet. Still got more saving and investing to do.
