Humana insurance rewards

I have Humana insurance and they have a program called Humana Vitality.  Basically you get points for doing healthy things and then cash in the points.  So in the past year, I did an online assessment, went to the doctor for my physical and got a mammogram. I got a free humana checkup through the health department.    I can track my walking with my smart phone (I am on Ting network) and get extra points for that.  There are a lot of ways to get points. You even get points for donating blood. Anyway, I just cashed in my points for $100 in amazon gift cards that I will save for Christmas.  Easy money for things that I do anyway.

My company just switched to Humana as well. I'm working on doing everything I can to maximize my points. Not only will I get $100 in Amazon, but a 10% monthly premium discount as well.

Simple wins matter.

You're fortunate.

Many employer health plans (perhaps I am assuming incorrectly that you don't buy your own health insurance) are using the stick and not the carrot. Higher premiums for things like smoking, overweight, high blood pressure, and any refusal to participate in programs to treat the above maladies.

My own employer charges management employees higher premiums if they are tobacco users.

Cool!  I have Humana but never bothered with the Vitality program, I'll have to check it out.  (I'm also on Ting, so twinsies.)
