Home Brew and Food Grade Buckets
« on: March 21, 2014, 12:56:21 PM »
I just started making my own hard cider.  I wanted a food grade bucket to put sanitizer in so I can make up a batch and store it for next time since it is easier to make a 3 gallon batch at one time.  Looking up online I found that some people recommend just going to a restaurant or bakery and asking for used frosting buckets.

I was biking by Costco and decided to give it a shot.  I went to the bakery and asked if they had any empty frosting buckets and the baker went to the back and came out apologizing that they only have one left if I want it.  I thanked her and told her it was perfect, I only needed one bucket.

The bucket also happens to fit perfectly inside my storage container on my bicycle, so that made it easier to take home than I originally thought it would be.  This weekend I get to rack my cider into secondary, and thanks to this bucket it will greatly simplify sanitation.

Good deal! I have gotten my recent free food grade buckets from Walmart - also at the bakery.
