Title: Got mentioned in a MarketWatch article today

Gotta love how it starts out: "How are Americans’ 401(k)s doing? Just check Twitter."

I don't even have twitter. /rolleyes

And nothing about the actual point of my post (https://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinance/comments/7l3fuy/this_is_what_can_happen_if_you_contribute_to_your/), which was to discourage people from taking withdrawals from their retirement accounts, and encourage them to save/invest.

And the comments? Pure cancer.

Thanks MarketWatch!

Ugh.

It’s as though “personal finance” can’t be someone’s hobby or an interest. Those subs talk about money. That’s what they’re there for. That’s why people read them, for better or worse. It’s like saying “Wow, I can’t believe people talk about beautifully remodeling their den on /r/DIY when there are people out there that choose not to remodel their den or can’t for whatever reason. What pompous jerks!”

FWIW I thought your reddit Post was very informative and the breakdown was very encouraging. So thanks for that!

Oh good, another Marketwatch article! Let's see...

Step 1: Find someone indicating they aren't broke on the internet

Step 2: Suggest they are bragging or got lucky or <insert put-down here>

Step 3: Warn people about the many stupid ways to waste money

I'm pretty sure I could write a script to do this...

How does Marketwatch make any money at all?

Fuck MarketWatch. It is the BuzzFeed version of WSJ, owned by WSJ, like the idiots guide to WSJ, with links to WSJ articles that require a subscription.

And Fuck Ajit Pai.
