I just accepted a position as a substation Technician. I'm pretty excited! I really like my current position as a lineman but I feel like I need a little change up.
Pros-
6% raise
get to take a company vehicle home
get a company cell phone. no need for me to keep my personal Verizon phone.
Change of pace and tons of new stuff to learn and do
less physically demanding
Arguably less dangerous
cons-
have to move.
wife's commute will turn from 15 miles to 35 at least temporarily
we where 1.5 years of having the house paid off.
All in all I'm happy with it. I'm also happy that I have a wife who is very supporting of this decion although she is going to have to spend more time driving now.
