getting money for your cds and dvds

wanted to share this resource- I did it earlier this year. I knew a friend who had used them as well. I boxed up all my cds (they do have to have the jewel case, cover art, and be clean and unscratched) which was about 350 total, sent them in (they sent me prepaid mailing labels) and got a check soon after.  You can choose to get ipods or other devices, or just a check. They dont send any rejects back to you, which I have seen other companies say they will do.

all in all, it was painless and I got a nice check and a bunch of shelf space back! :)

Would you be willing to share the amount of money you got in exchange for your 350 CDs? I tried looking over their website but couldn't tell what their rates were for buying used CDs. My best guess was about $1 per CD, much less than I paid for mine but I also haven't touched mine in years so that's better than nothing.

I dont remember the exact amount- I think it was 200+ $.
They pay less for music club cds ( I think half) and all my cds were over 10 years old- mostly stuff from the 90s actually, so its not like I could sell them for anything anywhere else. a portion of mine were music club cds and a portion were rejected to due scratches or missing multiple disc sets.

this page tells you how many cds you can exchange for the devices. at the very bottom it explains their rate and says that extra cds (over the amount of your device exchange) can be worth 50c-2.50$ or you can pay the difference to get a device also.

I felt it was a good deal for me. once they recieve your shipment, they go over it and tell you the total amount of credit you have and what it would be in check or device.

If you're near a rhasputin music store, they still pay cash or trade-in. You can use your trade in for more cd's rip them to your computer and sell them back within the week. We did this several times to not only get rid of our old CD's but also update our collection. In the ed we got about $3-5 per CD with all the printed materials.
