Fixed my own odometer!
« on: November 16, 2013, 09:42:56 PM »
My odometer bit the dust about 2 years ago and I'd been wanting to have it fixed since. It never quite felt like it'd be worth the money and so I put it off and put it off.

Today, I fixed it myself with a 20 dollar part from the internet. It took about an hour and a trip to the Hardware store to get another screwdriver, but I did it.

I'm excited because I think I'll be more confident tackling car stuff myself in the future, and now I can actually keep track of my (probably bad) gas mileage!

I did the same a few years ago.  Not sure what you drive, but the Ford odo's have a black plastic gear that is known to turn to mush with heat and time...

It's a '92 Volvo. Not a Ford, but the problem was a tiny little plastic gear that is known to fail.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
