I was puzzled why I couldn't just light my broiler with a match after the pilot thingy quit working. Come to find out, that thingy is called a ignitor and when it goes out it won't allow the gas to come out, it's a safety feature.
Went to a local appliance part store and picked up a new ignitor. Took about an hour including cleaning grime behind stove and my broiler now works like new. Can't wait to cook up some garlic bread!
Only bummer here was I could have ordered the part on amazon and would have saved $20. Oh well, I'm just learning how much stuff is available on amazon since I just signed up for a 30 prime trial.
